The Director of Human Resources for Beauport Hospitality Group is responsible for leading a variety of Human Resources functions. Primary functions include but are not limited to; recruiting, employee relations, worker’s compensation and daily Human Resources oversight. This position will also be responsible for timely completion of paperwork and annual reporting, while understanding and enforcing company policies.

CANDIDATE SUMMARY

Experience: Must have at least four (4) or more years of progressive Human Resources Management experience in a hotel or a related industry. Food & Beverage industry also preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee the Human Resources function across all properties within Beauport Hospitality Group.
  • Primary contact for all Employee Relations activities.
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement and motivation of employees.
  • Communicate new policies and directive to all Employees, while instructing Employees in the interpretation of current HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staffs compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Coach and support the Human Resources team.
  • Responsible for all activities involving hiring, coaching, documenting and termination.
  • Monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization.
  • Key figure in planning and executing employee recognitions events (Employee parties, luncheons, Star of the Quarter).
  • Manage all aspects of recruiting; liaison with key contacts at each property, while developing and monitoring recruitment resources.
  • Point of contact for Employee Benefits, to include; administer insurance benefits, calculate billing totals and explain benefits.
  • Manage Employee Appraisal and performance to drive high performing employees.
  • Monitor wage and deduction entries each payroll.
  • Conduct prescreening interviews.
  • Respond to unemployment claims, ensuring proper documentation is provided. Represent the Company at unemployment hearings as necessary.
  • Audit hours worked in payroll reports for eligibility of benefits, and status changes.
  • Monitor and maintain Leave of Absence log.
  • Monitor Workman's Compensation claims, complete First Report of Injury and reporting to Worker’s Compensation Carrier.
  • Ensure all annual reporting and filings are completed and compliant, to include, EEO and any OSHA related reporting.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Managing Directors.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have familiarity and knowledge of Employment Laws, with the ability to keep the businesses in compliance.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Attend all company required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Comply with Beauport Hospitality Group Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have previous experience in industry relevant payroll systems, to include point of sale systems.
  • Ensure legal compliance in all activities.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Work will primarily be sedentary in an office setting, taking place at Beauport Hotel, Cruiseport Gloucester, Seaport Grille or Rail Stop Restaurant & Bar.
  • Group and solo work.
