Job Overview:
The Director, Content leads a small team that envisions, designs, and creates content for existing and new products. This role is responsible for developing T4L’s content strategy in collaboration with the SVP of Operations, and enacting it through practices that ensure quality, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility. The Director leads T4L’s curriculum & learning design, editorial, and content operations, fostering a highly collaborative and innovative environment. The Director will work closely with leaders in Product, Production, and Engineering.
Job Responsibilities:
Content Strategy
-
Re-imagine and set a strategy that will support ongoing growth and is appropriate for the home education market.

Define and implement pedagogical, editorial and content practices that complement UIX, Production, and Engineering needs, developing new and innovative ways for how we approach and scale content development.

Ensure content development methods are well documented and understood, and applied across teams to support continuity across products and uses.
Leadership and Management

Develop, lead and manage a team of learning design, pedagogical, and editorial experts, bringing in external SMEs/contractors as needed.

Identify, evaluate and sign partnerships / vendor contracts with individuals and organizations that are able to provide high quality content aligned to project goals.

Work with Finance, Product, Production, and Engineering departments to allocate the R&D budget across projects and resource staff to support roadmap goals; manage the day-to-day department budget with support from Finance.

Stay abreast of educational and industry trends and share learnings and key information across teams and with Senior and Executive Leadership.
Cross-Functional Partnership

Partner with Marketing, Product, and Production to define and align the T4L pedagogic voice and tone in all product materials.

Collaborate with Product and Production to build on existing guidelines and principles for developing content that supports the needs of all learners.

Proactively interact with Product, Production, and Engineering to develop, plan and deliver impactful projects that reflect market trends and customer needs.
Job Requirements:
-
BA degree in Education, Liberal Studies or equivalent; Masters degree and/or Teaching Credential appreciated; previous teaching experience a plus

Minimum of 3-5+ years in managerial roles highly preferred

Comfortable using a variety of technologies for productivity, communication, design, and development tasks

Solid foundation in learning theory with a keen eye for applying pedagogy to product ideas

Previous experience designing engaging, online learning experiences

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Effective organizational skills and superior attention to detail

Ability to analyze data to understand product usage, inform development decisions and manage budgets
