As the Director of Compliance and Strategic Initiatives, you will impact the lives of children and families through assisting the company to identify and manage risk. You will also lead, enhance communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and share best practices in alignment with Buckner's mission, vision, and values.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the day-to-day functions and needs of the Compliance Department.
  • Set the strategic plan for compliance in collaboration with leadership.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on avoiding or prepare for similar situations in the future.
  • Implement, document, and administer the company's Compliance Program.
  • Monitor the performance of Buckner's compliance programs on an ongoing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness. The compliance program shall focus on methods to improve efficiency and quality of services as well as reducing the risk of waste, fraud and abuse.
  • Communicate the importance of compliance and the associated compliance programs to senior management and staff.
  • Works with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees and ongoing training for all employees and managers.
  • Coordinate investigations with legal counsel for major violations of law or policy.
  • Lead strategic initiatives assigned by the President including, but not limited to planning and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with donors on behalf of and in conjunction with the President, and for effectively representing the President in meetings.
  • Write a variety of professional statements, documents, letters, etc. to include letters on behalf of the President.
  • Work with President to establish, monitor and update priorities for a defined period (quarterly, fiscal year or rolling 12-months), reassessing status on a regular basis, and adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Oversee and/or develop briefing materials (biographies, presentations, reports, scripts, etc.) for key meetings and other events with internal and external parties.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • In-depth understanding of project and program management. Functional expertise and a proven track record for providing program management and/or business strategy required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study required. Master's Degree in management and/or project development preferred. Minimum of 5 years prior related business experience required.
  • Proficient understanding of process design and procedures development and continuous improvement. Requires proficient ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions dealing with abstract variables.
  • Proven track record of simultaneously and effectively managing multiple complex projects. Requires proficient understanding of project management, process design and procedures development and continuous improvement. Certification in project management preferred.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Proficient ability to speak, read and write English and Spanish preferred.
  • Bias for fact-based decision making and action-oriented project management practices.
  • Ability to plan, administer, and report budgets.
  • Proficient working knowledge of project planning and budgetary management.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, including an ability to synthesize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue; strong commitment to producing measurable results. Strong business acumen preferred.
