ABOUT OUR COMPANY
Philadelphia was awarded the 16th Major League Soccer franchise in February, 2008 and the team was officially announced as the Philadelphia Union in May, 2009. Owned and operated by Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC (“KSE”), the group launched the Philadelphia Union's inaugural season in 2010 and opened what is now Subaru Park in June, 2010. Subaru Park is an 18,500 seat, world-class soccer specific stadium that sits beautifully along the Delaware River at the base of the Commodore Barry Bridge and is only 15 miles from downtown Philadelphia.
The club has reached the finals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2014, 2015 and 2018, and has appeared in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2011, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, securing their first showing in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021. In 2020, the Union were awarded the club’s first Supporters’ Shield after finishing with the best regular season record in MLS. The club hosted the Eastern Conference Final in 2021 and were named the Eastern Conference Champions in 2022. The Philadelphia Union have once again clinched a berth in the 2023 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. The 2022 season finished at the MLS Cup against LAFC, in one of the most intense matches in League history!

ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Director of Marketing will be responsible for planning and overseeing the execution of comprehensive, integrated marketing campaigns for the Philadelphia Union and Union Sports and Entertainment properties. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across all departments and drive the overarching annual marketing plan for the organization that includes special events, community platforms, advertising, and retail. The candidate should be experienced in developing and implementing creative marketing plans, have a track record of planning effective promotional strategies, executing big picture ideas, and events.
This person serves as the “captain” of cross-functional plans for over 30 initiatives per year. Captaining plans requires building cross-functional plans including marketing, advertising, design, digital/social, PR/Communications, broadcast, events, etc. The Director of Marketing should have a thorough understanding of each of these functions in order to serve as a leader in the planning process. Leadership, strategic, and creative thinking skills are a must. The ideal candidate has a passion for music, fashion, pop culture, sports and entertainment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating and overseeing planning and execution of cross-functional annual marketing plan for the organization.
- Ensuring brand messaging and identity is consistent across all communications.
- Strategic planning of:
- Brand identity and development
- Promo and theme nights planning and execution
- Advertising
- Retail and merchandising
- Multi-cultural marketing
- Influencer marketing
- Grassroots marketing
- Esports programming
- Youth/mascot marketing
- Managing and mentoring direct-reports.
- Staffing marketing events as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field
- Minimum eight (8) years of marketing experience in a supervisory capacity
- Provide examples of leading large scale, cross-functional campaigns
- Experience in sports, entertainment, or consumer marketing strongly preferred
- Excellent communications skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms
- Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if/when necessary.
- Must possess U.S. work authorization not requiring sponsorship by the employer.
