POSITION SUMMARY:

The global Technology Organization is focused on developing and commercializing application solutions for the industries that Linde serves in its respective markets. Technology Commercialization’s activities are focused globally with the teams located in (4) main development centers: Munich, Germany; Tonawanda, NY; Burr Ridge, IL, and Shanghai, China. This role could be located in one of the following locations: Danbury, CT, Munich, DE or Tonawanda, NY. The role will be responsible for four main areas: 1) Growth Planning & Reporting, 2) International Freezer Pool (IFP), 3) Sales Enablement, & 4) Government Funding.

The first area is managing a team of 4-5 people for the data analytics and activities supporting Linde Technology’s activities including: KPI Reporting, Sales Enablement Execution, Market Sizing, Value pricing, Commercialization Digital Tool Development, and R&D Pipeline tracking. The second area manages one resource, a critical Global Supplier relationship which builds over 50 Food systems per year (which represent 6+ MM of CAPEX annually and $40 MM+ of New Gas Sales per annum). The third area of responsibility is to drive a commercialization marketing and communications team which is responsible for the Global Applications Web Site content, Social Media, specific product launches, & tradeshow activities. The fourth area of responsibility is to act as an individual contributor in the development and execution of Linde’ External Funding activities, with primary focus in APAC.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Lead the Growth Planning & Reporting Team

  • Team (3-4 FTE’s) responsible for the analytics and planning associated with the R&D Development Pipeline of projects
  • Responsible for all commercialization reporting, data quality, coordination & consistency across all 15 RBU’s
  • Lead the Sales Enablement team
    • Manage two Employees (one in Germany and one in UK)
    • Verify that Sales Enablement supports the TGD Growth Plans and Commercialization Directors in the execution of their priorities
    • Support the management of the critical Sales Enablement projects – including the Web effort
  • Manage the creation and completion of RBU Market Opportunity Estimates
    • Need to help the regions understand where the potential market opportunities are
    • Develop Market Sizing estimates in each RBU – comparing Linde presence, existing market share, competitive positions, etc.
  • Support Global Commercialization Leadership Team, including specific work for VP of Technology

Responsible for International Freezer Pool (IFP)

    • Manage IFP Coordinator FTE at Nitator Stainless in Helsingborg, Sweden.
    • Linde’s contract is managed by Director with the support of Procurement
    • Vendor builds 50 – 60 freezing systems per year – work >$6 MM of CAPEX
    • Team manages the Salesforce system – integrated with all RBU’s, PLCM Decision Process, Refurbishments, Coordination with FICO and LT Leadership

APAC External Funding

  • Maximizes value that the firm is getting from technology by leveraging external resources to accelerate development, including soliciting funding from government agencies and other external parties within APAC.
  • Identify and coordinate the response to Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) relevant to strategic technology programs and ensure application compliance with FOA requirements
  • Network and maintain relationships with officials from funding bodies. Promote interests with funding agencies so FOA scope incorporates Linde priorities.
  • Support establishment of internal processes for preparing, approving and submission of external funding opportunities. Work to identify synergies between different parts of the organization.
  • Encourage at least one submission by each R&D director annually, including earlier stage technologies and collaborations with universities, national labs, and startups and periodically support forecasting of public funding projects. Engage organizations outside of Technology, (eg PST, COE, LE) to understand their needs for external funding support.
  • In collaboration with government relations, set and execute strategy for technology R&D advocacy in US Congress, and support government relations communications on technology-related issues.
  • Leverage relationships with key national labs, universities, research institutions and other potential partners in support of current and future collaborations and recruiting. Understand capabilities of same to be able to quickly provide recommendations on opportunities.

    • R&D Budget responsibility: $ 0.750 - $1. 0 MM
    • Indirect turnover/revenue responsibility – support KPI for Technology Involvement - ~$300 MM annually in NPNS, RR, and TS

  • Bachelor’s Degree Technical or Business Education
  • Engineering Degree and/or Masters in Business Administration preferred
  • 10+ years of project management, or execution management
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills mandatory (Multiple language skills a benefit)
  • Experience in presenting to executive leadership
  • Must have strong financial planning/analytical skills to build business cases and create executive level presentations
  • Expert Excel and Tableau skills preferred
