Director Digital Transformation

The Director Digital Transformation will successfully lead the strategy, planning, and execution of pre- and post- sales consulting, solutions architecture, solutions road-mapping engagements, and provide oversight for delivery of Digital Science platform solutions, partnering with other functions and teams within Digital Science Solutions and across other parts of Thermo Fisher.

Responsibilities:

Strategic:

  • Trusted advisor to our customers, global account managers, services leaders, product managers, and delivery teams
  • Play a key role in positioning Thermo Fisher Digital Science as a leader in science digitalization by successfully driving customer engagements for digital transformation focusing on the Connect Platform
  • Work with broader organization to achieve business objectives, expand cross-functional client engagements
  • Thought leadership, product, and domain expertise towards developing our talent, successfully sharing knowledge, and helping build a best-in-class digital solutions consulting and implementation team, working closely with global services leaders
  • Effective feedback and input to product management and engineering with a focus on rapidly advancing the capabilities of our digital platforms and applications to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Contribute to 3rd party technology, product, and solution evaluations in the context of advancing the Digital Science digital product and solutions portfolio

Operational:

  • Lead team to deliver digital transformation for customers with effective strategies and ongoing efficient transformation of business and laboratory processes
  • Lead team in solutions design, architecture, configuration, and implementation for digital solutions on Digital Science platforms to meet and deliver value
  • Partner with other global services leads and team members to evaluate solutions delivery approaches, alternatives; review solutions delivery plans for technical/ architectural feasibility and provide appropriate ongoing guidance for services and training delivery
  • Improve processes, ensuring compliance, and driving improvements
  • Provide input into planning, resource allocation, management, tracking, and reporting on all aspects of customer engagements
  • Facilitate team and customer meetings successfully; deliver engaging, informative presentations both to internal and external audiences
  • Building solutions and architecture competency and practices

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience defining business, solution, information architecture from concept through solution delivery for enterprise software solutions
  • Broad knowledge of relevant technologies and implications in the delivery of scientific solutions, and the ability to demonstrate the same to architect and deliver impactful solutions to meet business requirements
  • Technical thought leadership and sound understanding of key industry trends
  • Delivering shared objectives in a matrix organization and global environment, including internal teams and external vendors/ partners
  • Understanding of IT processes, SDLC methodologies, Quality Management Systems, and knowledge of regulatory landscape, with preference for experience in delivering and supporting validated systems
  • Practical experience applying well known enterprise architecture methodologies to IT programs as well as use of architecture toolsets (e.g., enterprise architect)
  • Working with and influencing partners in a global work environment
  • Planning, prioritizing, reporting, problem solving and analytical capabilities
  • Collaborative, initiates and facilitates communications and relevant information sharing, and works with different functions to achieve the best outcomes
  • Sound eye for business, adaptable, goal-oriented self-starter
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion concerning critical, confidential, and proprietary information
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate communications with distributed team
  • Innovate and bring ideas forward; intensify issues and risks in a positive way

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors or master's degree in IT, IS, Engineering, Life Sciences, or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years of validated experience in life sciences technical and business collaborating with medium and large customers in various roles such as architect, solutions lead, or engagement lead for enterprise solutions in the life and laboratory sciences industry, specifically, developing and deploying solutions catering to one or more areas of pharmaceutical discovery, research, preclinical development, or manufacturing.
  • Key participant, lead, or manager of technology consulting engagements.
