The Director, Demand Planning will report to the VP, NA Supply Planning. This new hire will work at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD. The position is eligible to participate in McCormick's hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month).

Position Overview:
The Director of America’s Demand Planning is a pivotal role in the Planning and Logistics organization. The Demand Planning Leader sets and executes the demand forecasting strategy for America’s region which includes: Canada, US Consumer, and US Flavor Solutions with accountability for +$4B of sales revenue. The position will provide critical leadership to drive cultural and process transformation, robust planning processes and technology. In addition to deep analytical mastery, this role also requires strong collaboration and multifunctional partnerships with organizations such as Finance, Marketing and Sales.

This role requires strong communication and influencing skills with the most senior levels across the organization. The position leads America’s Demand planning organization, runs the monthly Commercial Review/Consensus process within IBP framework and participates in the Supply review and Reconciliation meeting. The leader provides key business insights regarding long range volume forecasts for Marketing, tactical and strategic volume outlooks for Sales along with leadership in developing volume projection assumptions, risks and opportunities which must align with Financial objectives for the business. Supports the Product Life Cycle organization through supply chain forecasting, error detection and resolution. Providing accurate forecasts, this position enables McCormick to deliver predictable financial results and ensure cost, service and working capital goals are met. Beyond the daily focus this role will be expected to develop the processes and capabilities to enable future growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Establishes best in class demand and forecast management capabilities including people/organizations, processes, technology, and metrics.
Responsible for the development of organizational strategy and technology strategy to ensure continuous improvement and growth in capability and performance in all aspects of demand management.
Conducts knowledge sharing, benchmarking current & future industry trends with peer companies and other external research companies to ensure processes are best in class.
Accountable for leading the monthly Commercial Review portion of the IBP process. Drives partnerships that ensures the commercial review/ consensus includes insights and inputs from General Managers and Senior Leaders of Sales, Marketing, Finance and Supply. Challenges areas where the demand plan is not realistic and leads the review to identify gaps to the business, strategic plans and develops the necessary plans/action to eliminate or narrow those gaps
Functional owner of developing forecast plans that serve as the foundation for cross-functional budget planning and quarterly financial planning to include Plan, Source, Make, Deliver
Dollarizes the demand forecast to understand changes to the financial projections.
Collaborates with marketing and sales to understand the upside opportunities and downside risks versus the demand plan. Aligns with finance on what opportunities and risk should be included in the financial plan.
Directs the development and implementation of programs to remove demand-related losses from the supply chain, including but not limited to forecast error, forecast bias, and inventory-at-risk. Responsible to benchmark, establish targets, and develop programs to achieve targets for forecast accuracy and bias through continuous process improvements, customer level forecasting, forecast value add and segmentation, etc. Accountable for creating a culture of continuous improvement leveraging TPM practices
Develop the demand planning strategy and adjust to meet changing business needs. Maintain close working relationships with McCormick business leadership and commercial units to assess their present and future growth plans, go-to-market plans, customer strategies, and emerging industry trends
Establishes interim and long-term demand planning processes to integrate mergers and acquisitions, manage changes in our distribution and manufacturing network, and plan for strategic investments
Coach, mentor and support Supply Chain Rotation program. Leads team members (+14 resources) throughout multiple regions in demand planning and provides direct leadership, coaching, opportunities for personal development, and ensuring a continuous improvement mindset. Develop and coach direct reports to include development plans and participates in the creation of a 0-5 year succession plan for key roles. Mentors individuals within the supply chain function

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Supply Chain, or related field of study. MBA preferred.
Minimum 10-15 years of supply chain experience with a good understanding of the end to end processes.
Minimum 5 years of CPG industry experience.
Experience in (statistical) forecasting and knowledge Demand Planning (SAP) system preferred.
SAP, MS-Office tools, ERP packages and other relevant IT systems knowledge with focus on planning and forecasting.
Strong partnering and understanding of Planning support needs of the Enterprise and Sector.
Excellent analytical skills.
Strong communication & influencing skills.
Ability to manage large projects, process improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams.
