The Director of Marketing will have a passion for kids' retail experiences, thrive working collaboratively with creative and production teams, and be intent on maximizing transactions at the Fair through insights-informed decision-making and strong partnership with Publishing, Product, and Merchandising teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strategic marketing plans to increase book product transactions at 110,000+ Book Fair retail events.
  • In close collaboration with the Product, Merchandising, and Creative teams develop and produce the seasonal Scholastic Book Fair retail experience annually with a strong emphasis on Product advertising.
  • Build and maintain a Fair Experience Marketing playbook and Product Priorities calendar.
  • Develop Book Fairs' scope of involvement in campaigns supporting Scholastic publishing and Scholastic Global Brands publishing priorities (known internally as Cross Channel Marketing).
  • In partnership with Marketing Operations, inform the allocation of a multi-million dollar production budget of all Fair retail environment marketing collateral.
  • Oversee the quoting process with the Manufacturing team, requesting quotes and confirming the budget.
  • Function as the division's authority on scholastic-published, externally published, and licensed book products.
  • Direct Project Management team on routing and approvals.
  • Provide direction on content for the production of Trailers to promote books available for purchase at the Fair.
  • Manage additional staff, including the team managing Scholastic Book Fairs’ Author Visit Programs.
  • Lead resolution of customer and field issues related to Book Fairs customer-retail experience
  • Leverage insights from sales data, consumer insights, customer care data, and digital data to inform decision-making.
  • Communicate Marketing plans to cross-functional to stakeholder groups within the Book Fairs division.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree required in Marketing or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a management or leadership role
  • Seasoned manager with experience building and implementing strategic plans, facility and leading teams, and driving results
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal, with proven ability to collaborate across functions and at all levels
  • Strong delegation and time management skills
  • Knowledgeable of the evolving consumer communications and brand environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google-suite tools
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce and present clear status reports in a convincing and unambiguous manner
