Kootenai Health is seeking a professional and dynamic Director Ambulatory Access Services to join our team!

As the Director Ambulatory Access Services you will develop and deliver programs and services vital to achieving the Kootenai Health mission and vision, including coordinating, executing and continually delivering seamless patient access for all ambulatory offices.

This is a highly collaborative role that involves close partnership with health system patient access leadership, the operations teams, revenue cycle and other business units. This leader directs the transformation of the current appointment center to a world-class ambulatory access hub, aimed at delivering a comprehensive, one-stop experience for patients seeking care from Kootenai Health

What you will do:

  • Responsible for assessing developmental needs, driving training initiatives, and actively searching, creatively designing and implementing effective methods to educate, improve technical capabilities and recognize performance.
  • Oversee staff planning, onboarding, development of professional competencies, performance assessments and training plans for ambulatory access team members within Kootenai Clinic
  • Optimize registration and scheduling processes and platforms to ensure the organization is capturing all patient populations through their preferred method of scheduling
  • Maintain current knowledge of the industry and new developments Assists in the resolution of complicated patient access issues
  • Actively participates in budget forecasting and financial performance analysis for patient access
  • Integrate feedback from internal and external stakeholders, patient satisfaction surveys and key performance metrics into operation
  • Partner with KC practices, physicians, and other care providers and their teams to ensure complete alignment on ambulatory access performance
  • Review, refine, implement and measure key performance measures in the KC Appointment Center to deliver a best-in-class experience for patients and the Center team
  • Collaborate with all KH patient access leadership to define strategy, policy, education methods, and standards and compliance assurance in the areas of patient scheduling, pre-registration, registration, financial counselling, insurance verification, pre-certification and pre-authorization, and point of service collections and related patient access matters
  • Oversee programmatic approach to orienting new employees; ensures staff is trained in new functions, processes and concepts to certify staff are capable of completing job functions professionally and independently
  • Own patient access team communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training events and resources.
  • Partner with management in coordinating aspects of planning, design, development, training, implementation, communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality of the Epic practice management software

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field required
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred
  • Minimum 7 years’ leadership experience required
  • 3 years’ call center management experience preferred
  • CPT & ICD-10 coding knowledge preferred
  • CMPE or FACMPE certification through Medical Group Management Association preferred
  • Previous experience with Epic EHR highly preferred
