Direct Shipment Packer (2nd & 3rd Shift Positions)

Primary Function: Operation of pack station in a manufacturing environment

Difficulty and Responsibility of Work:

Packer must make decisions to resolve deviations in daily operations by evaluating situations against standard operating procedures of quality and production. Establishes credibility of finished goods through adhering to standards. Responsible for placing goods into their correct containers and preparing them for shipment using various equipment. Meets or exceeds required productivity standards.

Essential Duties

• Starts and stops pack station.
• Understands safety rules and quality requirements as they pertain to the starts and stops of pack station.
• Meets or exceeds established productivity standards.
• Performs quality audits on finished goods and records efficiencies of line production routinely and accurately.
• Ensures that the packed products conform to the order sheet provided
• Isolates damaged items to a predefined marked area and reports all damaged items to supervisors
• Ensures that the quantity specified is picked by counting it several times before taking it to the packing pallet
• Ensures that containers are marked properly and labeled appropriately
• Scans the packed container and validates information on the packing labels
• Seals packed containers
• Enters picking, packing and loading information into the predefined tracking system.
• Handles light-directed picking processes by following set protocols
• Maintains daily production and packing records
• Reports any errors in product selection and quantity to the supervisor immediately
• Stacks and piles finished goods into containers.
• Transports items to packing pallet and packs them in specified containers
• Ensures that package information is recorded manually first and then entered into the database system along with its status
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing
• Ability to perform basic computer functions with training
