The Executive Director, Digital Design will lead the creative ideation and design of all digital and connected experiences for the digital portfolio within CVS Health including all business units’ (CVS Pharmacy, CVS Caremark, Aetna) websites and creation of many of the major marketing communications initiatives, digital advertising, branded content and owned and paid social media. This individual will be one of the senior leaders in Heart Haus, directing one of four practice units in the award-winning internal agency at CVS Health

The Executive Director of Digital Design will be responsible for helping lead the digital transformation at CVS Health. They will lead a large team with creative responsibilities that include many of the critical communications, digital product and systems design, content and social media and platform strategy that define and promote the CVS brand, including:
  • CVSHealth.com
  • CVS.com
  • Aetna member and B-to-B website, including Medicare, Medicaid, Kidney Care
  • Caremark digital communications
  • Heartbeat
  • CMX, the emerging CVS Health Retail Media Network
  • Enterprise Customer Value
  • Shop page design and branded content
  • The Social Media Center of Excellence
  • Oversight of company-wide digital design standards, playbooks and design kits-of-parts
  • Banner advertising
  • Online videos and animations
  • Health@Home emails
  • Digital billboards
  • Oversight of content created by outside agency partners
  • Design of landing pages
  • Application creative development

They must have a proven track record of both creating and inspiring innovative, effective digital experiences that both build brands, deliver the best-in-class consumer experiences and drive sales. Ability to generate ideas for enhancing creative implementation and digital strategy to foster a digital-first environment and Have deep UX experience creating and implementing digital identity systems and guidelines for large, complex organizations. The candidate will also be an exceptional strategic thinker and capable of influencing senior executive leaders and with fellow creative team members. They should enjoy leading, inspiring, and mentoring creative staff at all levels. And they will demonstrate superior thought leadership, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess a portfolio of innovative, industry leading websites and digital products/experiences that are considered best in class. There should be examples of both brand-building and sales driving work, digital identity systems, as well as video, complex sites, immersive digital experiences, social media, and branded content.

The ability to impact and influence key stakeholders is critical. They will guide and partner with internal cross functional teams and external agency partners in the ideation and execution of digital and connected experiences. Responsible for ensuring that the brand is being represented properly and consistently in all touchpoints and that business goals and outcomes are delivered. Retail/healthcare experience would be a plus.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Create, convey, and sell vision: direct and inspire a team to create Websites, social media posts, branded content, short-form video and animations, Retail Media Exchange banners and other digital ads, landing pages, ecommerce pages, company-wide digital design systems, and app design. All while working collaboratively across a complex, multi-stakeholder organization, inclusive of the CVS Pharmacy, CVS Caremark, and Aetna business units.
2. Bring innovative ideas and vision to life across a wide scope of the CVS Health digital portfolio and connected experiences.
3. Inspire and mentor team to develop best in class digital and connected experiences that deliver and adhere to the brand standards ensuring cohesion and consistency.
4. Cultivate an engaging and inspirational atmosphere leading to the development and execution of best-in-class creative and design experiences.
5. Guide and partner with cross functional teams to deliver best in class digital experiences.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 131,500
Maximum: 297,250

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in agency and/or corporate environment.
  • Proven experience managing a team of 25+ in the design and execution of digital and connected experiences.
  • 10+ years of proven experience leading, managing and influencing cross functional teams.
  • 10+ years of proven experience managing agencies to deliver key projects.
  • 10+ years of proven experience working in a highly complex business organization

Preferred Qualifications
  • Portfolio filled with innovative, industry leading websites and digital products/experiences that are considered best in class.
  • Extensive digital background and understanding of user experience, digital tools, and best practices.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization with multi-stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of user-centred design philosophy and enterprise design systems.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design, and deliver digital and connected experiences.
  • The ability to impact and influence and sell your ideas to senior level stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidance (WCAG 2.0).
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (CMS and DAM).
  • Experience with Motion and Experience Design APIs (After Effects, AR, Voice, etc.).
  • Experience with the Adobe tech stack, including Experience Manager and Target.
  • Deep knowledge of full user experience design process.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging user research effectively.
  • Experience with agile and lean software development practices.
  • Understanding of all major social media platforms.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Mac and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with XD, Sketch and Figma.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in retail, healthcare, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Information Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Human Factors and/or equivalent work experience (HS Diploma and 4+ years of equivalent experience) required.
