The Opportunity

The Development Associate plays an internal implementation role in Advancing Justice - ALC’s development efforts by partnering with Development Team colleagues to conduct key elements of the annual development plan, to successfully meet organizational fundraising goals and objectives. This position assists the Development team in the area of database management and reporting, with an emphasis on institutional funding support, individual gifts, and events. These include implementation of the special events strategy; direct mail program and online giving efforts; donor and constituent communication, and development operations. This also includes donor research, calendaring, and supporting the implementation of ALC’s gift acceptance policy

Responsibilities

Day-to-day activities vary in this dynamic position and include the following:

Institutional Funding Support (0.30 FTE)

  • Maintain and implement funding calendar activities using Asana and Salesforce.
  • Assist in compiling and submitting interim and final reports to institutional funders.
  • Provide administrative support related to the grant proposal submission process.

Individual Donors and Major Gifts (0.30 FTE)

  • Assist in implementing strategies for retaining and upgrading current donors with a particular focus on low- to mid-range donors through a well-defined moves management process, outreach and communication, and engagement.
  • Help manage the Development Director’s calendar and schedule meetings and calls with donors and funders and assist in creating and implementing stewardship strategies and maintaining a yearly stewardship calendar.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to all donor/ potential donor requests.
  • Assist in donor prospect research and qualification. Ensure workflow and an organized system for major gifts activities with direction and guidance from the Director of Development.
  • Generate monthly income reports and coordinate with finance to reconcile accounting and development records of donations. Conduct conflict checks in Clio, ALC’s legal case management system, and provide research to support ALC’s gift acceptance and enhanced gift screening policies.
  • Conduct timely donation tracking and acknowledgment to donors/funders with ALC’s finance and administration teams.

Systems
Salesforce (0.25 FTE)

  • Manage overall donor database coordination and donor tracking to ensure donor records are continuously updated, and current and accurate on Salesforce (includes data entry, donor reports, donor acknowledgments, and mail merges).
  • Manage Salesforce CRM, including designing processes and structures for new development projects and programs.
  • Manage workflows on individual giving and major gifts strategies on Asana.
  • Manage ALC’s Mobile Cause online donation platform and maintain integration of Salesforce with Mobile Cause.

Discrete Projects (0.10 FTE)

  • Track online donations and assist in the mail campaigns, including list segmentation
  • Provide assistance and input on marketing materials both in print and online
  • Assist on special projects related to events, including the production of videos, silent auction, and donation collection.

Administrative Support (0.05 FTE)

  • Provide timely acknowledgment receipts of donations, submit invoices and reimbursements, and other administrative support for the team.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The annual compensation depends on years of relevant experience; the range, starting from three years’ experience, is $76,491 - $86,091. ALC offers an additional $1,000 annual compensation for proficiency in a language other than English and an additional $1,000 annual compensation for graduate degree(s).
