The Electronics Design Team Manager will lead a team of engineering personnel (data technicians, detailers, designers, technicians & engineers) responsible for the development of Hammerhead equipment and maintenance of related documentation. Management of engineering activities within the department will include design, development, testing and production support. Implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Leads planning and execution of new product development projects to ensure that the scope is clearly defined, risks are appropriately identified, and plans are put in place to carry the project through to completion.
  • Manages design team staffing to ensure functional capability and capacity aligns with business objectives. Distributes workload among team personnel to properly support projects and objectives.
  • Develops and implements individual, project, and team level measurements to encourage continuous improvement in the growth of individuals for future opportunities and the overall performance of the project and design teams.
  • Directs the development of products within a HammerHead product line. Ensures that products are developed with common approaches, are compliant with industry & regulatory standards, and are consistent with the long term vision for the product line. Works to foster information exchange required between the different design disciplines.
  • Supports the enhancement of the company’s intellectual property portfolio and ensures that innovative ideas and designs are identified and documented.
  • Manages multiple complex and challenging projects while balancing groups working on technical issues for several different areas.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or closely related engineering discipline
  • Five years of experience in a Design Team Manager or similar engineering management role.
  • Experience in PLC programming, Codesys preferred
  • ERP experience, SAP preferred
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork and people-management skills.
  • Results-driven and action-oriented; positive and energetic.
  • High degree of personal and professional integrity.
  • High level of problem-analysis and resolution skills.
  • Good cost management skills.
  • Strong drive for continuous improvement.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Base salary $120,000+. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package.
