A. Job Title: Director of Day Care

B. Job Summary: Provides a Preschool/Child Care Program as part of its Mission and Educational Ministries. Meets the needs of young children and their parents in the community. Provides a Christian environment that nurtures a child’s spiritual life and manifests itself in a child’s own
self-worth and the self-worth of others as children of God, security, self-discipline, and creativity. Supervises the daycare employees, and follows all Louisiana Early Learning Center Licensing regulations.

C. Supervision and Duties

1. Supervision: Reports directly to the Administrative Assistant/Financial Secretary

2. Responsibilities, duties, and tasks

a. Duties

1. Serve as a resource person for planning and organizing all Children’s programs including Vacation Bible School, Summer Activities

2. Be acquainted with literature and assist Literature Secretary in ordering children’s materials

3. Be acquainted with audio visual resources and equipment

4. Attend Church staff meetings

5. Supervise the staff and convey the philosophy and policies of the school

6. Preside over daycare staff meetings

7. Grocery shop or designate employee

8. Collect and turn in all fees

9. Hire and assign staff positions

10. Purchase supplies and equipment

11. Enroll children

12. Responsible for all enrollment, personnel, finances, and health records

13. Consult and coordinate the sharing of the building between the weekday programs and the Sunday and other church-related programs

14. Attend professional schools and workshops

b. Fiscal Responsibilities

1. Preparing the annual budget with Church Administrative Assistant

2. Operating the school within the budget

3. Purchasing equipment and supplies

4. Arranging for repairs and maintenance

5. Preparing monthly reports on the status of the budget

6. Maintaining an advertising and public relations program to promote enrollments

c. Parents

1. Maintaining an active system of parent-school relationships

2. Planning for the orientation of parents to school policies and procedures

3. Planning and administering a parent education program

4. Planning and administering a parent participation program

5. Communicating with parents in a wide variety of ways

6. Maintain a daycare newsletter monthly

7. Utilize remind 101

d. Health

1. Planning and implementing a health program for the school

2. Keeping health history records and physicians’ report for children, participating parents and staff

3. Contacting recognized agencies able to help children who have special needs

4. Maintaining a referral system for children who have special needs

e. Safety

1. Planning and implementing a safety program for the school

2. Keeping informed of the school’s legal responsibilities and liabilities

3. Implementing a program of playground safety

4. Planning for and conducting fire drills

5. Preparing activities to teach the children traffic safety

f. Space and Equipment

1. Planning for and equipping outdoor areas

2. Planning for and equipping indoor areas

3. Arranging for custodial care, maintenance and repairs

4. Managing supplies

5. Replacing equipment and stocking supplies as needed

g. Staff

1. Preparing job descriptions

2. Recruiting applicants to fill staff vacancies

3. Selecting staff members

4. Recommending staff members for permanent status or separation after a trial employment period

5. Conducting regularly scheduled staff meetings

6. Planning and implementing an in-service training program for the staff

7. Assisting the staff in developing a workable plan for using the indoor and outdoor space

8. Assisting the staff in preparing daily, weekly, and yearly plans

9. Planning and implementing procedures that leads to wholesome interpersonal relationships between staff members

10. Assisting staff in planning individual programs for professional growth and career development

11. Planning and implementing procedures for keeping accurate classroom records

12. Preparing a staff handbook for each new year

13. Keeping personnel records

h. Enrollment

1. Enrolling children on a first-come basis, making allowances where necessary to achieve an ethnic and socioeconomic balance amount families patronizing the school

2. Interviewing parents of prospective students

3. Planning for the gradual orientation of newly enrolled students

4. Familiarizing the parents of newly enrolled pupils with school policies

5. Being alert to enrollment needs at all times

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
