Part time position hiring for weekend and holiday work. Oak Hill Veterinary Care and Pet Resort in Madison Heights is a full service small animal hospital offering digital radiography (including dental rads), diagnostic ultrasound and in house laboratory equipment. We also offer resort amenities including daycare and lodging. The applicant should understand the importance of quality pet care.

As an animal care provider you play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and ensure they have a safe and clean stay. One of the most important responsibilities is to ensure all patients are comfortable and maintain utmost quality of care. Must be hard working, reliable, self- motivated and team player. Duties include (but are not limited to): cleaning animal waste including urine, feces, vomit and other bodily fluids, bathing pets, animal handling, feeding, watering, walking and playtime, grooming, laundry and monitoring and documenting health/ well-being.

Our daycare team is all about supplying playful, energetic and safe interactions for our play groups. Experience is preferred. MUST have experience handling dogs of all sizes and a basic understanding of dog play and body language. Must be hard working and reliable. Duties include (but not limited to): evaluate patients, establish play groups, understand/ interpret pet behavior, monitor health, keep accurate records, breaking up rough play, help with lodging pets, clean facility and play yard, cleaning up after pets, reporting and emphasize safety. Ongoing training and learning are essential and will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Insure daily feeding and supply clean water
• Keep pet's belongings and food organized and neat
• Clean and fold laundry
• Clean bowls and keep food prep area clean
• Clean cages, kennels and bathe animals
• Walk animals multiple times daily
• Handle all sizes and breeds of animals. Understand body language.
• Document pet's health, appetite, activity daily
• Soothe upset or frightened animals
• Observe animal behavior or health condition and report if any concerns
• Fill out report cards to send home with clients informing them of pet's stay
• Assist with daycare activities, treat times, turndown services, special occasions, pet parties
• Skills
• Must be able to clean animal waste including urine, feces, vomit and other bodily fluids
• Current or former pet ownership is an advantage
• Excellent communication skills
• Patient and caring personality
• Ability to follow instructions properly
• Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs, rabbits)
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
• Availability to work weekends and holidays
