SUMMERY

This role consists of in-depth charting review and patient interviews to create the legal birth certificates for newborns.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Work requires, in addition to the skills normally acquired through general high school education, specialized or technical training such as shorthand and medical terminology which may be obtained in high school or by a brief (six months or less) period of intensive preparation outside of school.

  • Secretarial skills including computer/word processing skills, filing, telephone communication and office machines.

  • Analytical ability required in order to gather, input and summarize data for summaries and reports.

  • Must have knowledge of use and operation of computer software for databases and reporting requirements.

  • Must have data entry speed-accuracy rate generally acquired through post high school course work and related data entry experience.

  • Experience with Ohio Birth Certificates and Ohio Notary Preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides secretarial support to the Hospital and Medical Home Project including, word processing, telephone contacts, copying and filing.

  • Manages data within program data base.

  • Assists with development of forms and reports.

  • Enters data from medical records and service providers.

  • Establishes program database in ACCESS or SPSS and enters all data.

  • Summarizes data into report format.

  • Implements and maintains department data collection processes and record keeping.

  • Provides reports to Coordinators as needed.

  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and records.

  • Is responsible for all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Performs repetitive tasks/motions

  • Preforms lifting, moving and pushing in excess of 50 pounds or more

  • Hears alarm bells, telephone, and other sounds

  • Hears normal conversation

  • Have good manual dexterity

  • Have good eye-hand-foot coordination

  • Have clarity of vision: near (< 20”)

  • Have clarity of vision: mid (>20”-20’)

  • Have clarity of vision: far (>20’)

  • Distinguish colors

Hours:

  • Shift: Days

  • Hours: 8 Hour Shifts

  • Hours per pay period: 48

  • Weekend, holiday and on-call rotation required per department policy

  • Sun-Sat, primarily day shift with variable shift coverage as needed, dependent on patient needs.
