Job Description:

Key Skill sets: Oracle 19c, Golden Gate 19 and 21, Oracle Enterprise Manager/Cloud Control 13c, RMAN, Data Guard, ASM, Database and GI Patching, Multi-Tenant Databases, Teamwork, Curiosity, and Communication.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex, highly available Oracle database environments.
  • Support and troubleshoot Golden Gate replication streams, install patches, monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot production and non-production Oracle databases as needed.
  • Support and deliver Oracle databases and related technologies as needed for operational activities and project efforts.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively using written and verbal communication methods.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with personnel in other ERCOT IT and Business groups.
  • Manage highly available Oracle database environments configured with the following technologies:
  • Real Application Clusters
  • RMAN & Rubrik backups
  • Data Guard
  • Multi-Tenant
  • ASM
  • Perform database monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Configure and manage Data Guard and perform switchovers regularly between data centers.
  • Identify and resolve database performance problems.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot Golden Gate Replication streams.
  • Manage and maintain databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Apply Patches to Oracle 19c databases, Grid Infrastructure/Clusterware, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Manage database user accounts and passwords.
  • Adhere to ERCOT Compliance standards.
  • Coordinate and implement changes to development, test, and production environments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience in the Following Technologies is a Plus:

  • Oracle CMU for Active Directory integration.
  • Rubrik data protection systems.
  • Multi-Tenant Databases.
  • Advanced Compression.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP, SSAE16, and/or SOC compliance standards.
  • Ansible

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • B.S. in Management Information Systems or Computer Science (4 year degree). An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible information technology work experience with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment.
  • 7+ years in Golden Gate.
  • 7+ years in Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
  • 7+ years of a strong basic technical background based in Information Technology (IT) organizations.
  • 7+ years in Oracle Relational Database Management.
  • 4+ years with multi-terabyte databases and associated structures.
  • 4+ years direct, hands-on experience with SQL/PLSQL and Unix scripting.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be willing to share knowledge freely and teach skills and concepts to others.
  • Must be curious and willing to learn.
