Sims Global IT Team is looking for a motivated Azure Data Developer to build modern data pipelines to ingest, process, transform, and model data into Sim’s Data. The developer will be a member of a team and be responsible for designing and engineering ETL pipelines from various applications using a combination of Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Server, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

• Maintain current Azure Data Lake and improve upon it.
• Maintain existing pipelines and create new pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
• Maintain existing data flows and create new data flows using Azure Data Factory.
• Connect to various cloud and on-prem data sources to perform ETL or ELT in an effort to organize business data into one Data Platform.
• Diagnose and correct pipeline errors.
• Work with different levels of the organization to identify new data and create plans to integrate the data into the Data Platform.
• Collaborate with the Global Business Intelligence Director on the Azure costing and provide recommendations to improve performance or drive down costs.

QUALIFICATIONS & SELECTION CRITERIA

The ideal candidate should have:

• 4 years of demonstrated Azure Data experience
• General knowledge of the manufacturing industry and the data involved
• Detailed knowledge of Azure data tools to include Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Server
• Exposure with reporting and visualization tools like Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services, Tableau or equivalent
• Ability to communicate with IT and Business leadership, to discuss business issues and solutions
• Experience connecting to API data
• Use of DevOps for version control
• Comfortable with standard SQL Server objects: tables, views, stored procedure, and functions
• Experience with the Agile development style
• Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills; the ability to get the message across and relate to the audience
• Ability to effectively manage professional relationships, listening, encouraging discussion and promoting two-way communication
• Experience with other ETL tools is preferred, especially BODS for SAP and SSIS
• Experience with Data Warehousing techniques is preferred

Must have experience in the following technologies:

• Azure
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure Data Lake gen2
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure SQL Server
• Azure SQL Serverless Pools
• APIs
• DevOps

Any exposure to the following areas is desirable:

• BODS for SAP and any SAP data structure knowledge
• Power BI or other visualization tools
• Data Warehousing
• SQL Server On-prem
• Databricks
• Industry knowledge to include Manufacturing, Logistics, or Recycling
