JOB SUMMARY
This position exists primarily to provide technical and operational support for all student information users. This position serves as a primary expert and lead responsible for developing, auditing, maintaining and manipulating the University data ecosystem to ensure data integrity and data standards are met. This includes the following key tasks:
- Ensure the validity and integrity of data flowing into, being utilized, manipulated and delivered out of the institutional data ecosystem.
- Understand and design processes to efficiently and effectively store, manipulate and utilize student data.
Collaborate with all data teams to develop new standards and systems to store, manipulate and utilize student data for university initiatives. - Automate manual process.
- Develop and implement test plans and scripts for various data quality processes.
- Document all relevant data activity effectively within the university data catalog or knowledge base.
- Evaluate and suggest opportunities for improvement both technologically and procedurally.
- Document and communicate procedural elements of the movement and protection of student data.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure the validity and integrity of the data flowing into, being utilized, manipulated and delivered out of the institutional data ecosystem:
- Understand and design process and systems to efficiently and effectively store, manipulate and utilize student data.
- Collaborate with all data teams to develop new standards and systems to store, manipulate and utilize student data for university initiatives.
- Automate manual process.
- Document all relevant data activity effectively within the university data catalog or knowledge base.
Manage the health of University data:
- Create, review and take action on data audit reports to maintain the health and data standards of student data.
- Collaborate with university partners to ensure data specific to their area is maintained, documented and stored according to university data standard.
- Automate any manual processes related to data quality.
Document and communicate data process procedures:
- Create and maintain documentation for all student data processes associated with this role in the university catalog or knowledge base.
- Create and maintain training documentation for team members including student interns and student workers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- Three years of professional level experience providing data management, technical and systems design and development
- Demonstrated technical skill designing and developing tools in student information systems and databases, including ERP, imaging solutions and reporting
- Experience with database design and data manipulation; and identifying and troubleshooting information integrity issues
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or eligible for legally required exemption such as a medical or religious reason
An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skill have been acquired may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience working with at least two of the following programs/languages: Ellucian Banner, Salesforce, Apsona for Salesforce, Optix, Cognos Analytics, ReportNet, Appworx, SQL, Python, Amazon Web Services or similar tools/language for managing data and documents, automation processes and reporting
Required Daily/After-Hours Communication
The person in this position must have access to wireless communication device for the ability to be reached during and/or after normal work hours to provide support, answer questions and/or provide input for required decisions on short notice as is required of a manager, application owner or support person.
