Overview
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking a data engineer for its Monroeville, PA location, east of Pittsburgh.
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a project engineering organization supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. BPMI provides design, manufacturing, and supply chain management of the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of nuclear power plant components installed in submarines and aircraft carriers. In addition, BPMI provides upgraded replacement components in support of refueling and overhaul activities, and aids in the ultimate storage and disposition of spent naval fuel. BPMI also delivers information technology and operational solutions to the Nuclear Navy, enabling them to fulfill their critical mission.
Roles and Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for the development of data structures (data lakes, pipelines, warehouses, marts) for existing and future data, across disparate systems.
- Specific job responsibilities include:
- interfacing with data owners to understand data and software needs
- building data infrastructure that allows for efficient data exchanging between existing and future systems
- establishing standard reporting features
- helping grow a culture focused on data analytics
- staying current on data engineering trends and techniques
- extensive communications with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Required
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred for newer college graduates.
- Extensive experience using SQL Server Tools (SSIS, SSAS, SQL Server Management Studio) and Power BI.
- Knowledge of database administration and SQL.
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to government security clearance requirements. In order to work at BPMI, applicants must complete a Federal background investigation and be granted a security clearance.
Preferred
- A proven track record of effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
- Creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with data warehousing, specifically star / snowflake schema bridge tables.
- Experience with data lakes, Cloud-based data warehousing tools, data factory, Databricks, and Oracle.
