Select Sires Inc. | United States, OH, Plain City Select Sires Inc. seeks a detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively for an open Dairy Data Specialist position. The Dairy Data Specialist will be responsible for administering a variety of programs that generate data in support of Select Sires’ dairy sire development and marketing efforts. This includes the selection and coordination of providing young-sire semen to program herds and working with on-farm data from the resulting cows, as well as the maintenance of Select Sires’ bulls in industry databases such as the National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB), the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding (CDCB), and breed associations. The Dairy Data Specialist will also support internal sire development through the connection of data pipelines and creation of metrics to monitor progress. The Dairy Data Specialist reports to the Dairy Development Data Manager. This position may be in the Plain City, Ohio office location or remotely. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:Specific duties and responsibilities of a Dairy Data Specialist include, but are not limited to:Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires Inc. Mission: To enhance the productivity and profitability of dairy and beef producers, Select Sires is committed to be the premier provider of highly fertile, superior genetics accompanied by effective reproductive- and herd-management products and services.Execute routine duties for young-sire sampling programs by working with individuals from a variety of Select Sires’ departments and staff at Cooperative Member OrganizationsDevelop working knowledge of Select Sires’ computer and database systems to upload and extract data and produce files/reports in support of department activitiesEstablish relationships with industry organizations such as the Holstein Association, CDCB and NAABCollaborate with the Sire Department team in maintaining identification and marketing status of A.I. sires in internal and industry databases.Provide high-level support for sire development and herd data pipelines rEquired Skills and Abilities:A working knowledge of dairy genetics and milk recordingHigh-level capabilities in Microsoft ExcelExperience working with data and database tools with a willingness to learn new data management skillsSuperior project management skills with minimal supervisory needsAbility to function as a team player and comfortable in multi-taskingStrong time management and organizational skillsThe Dairy Data Specialist's work schedule is Monday through Friday. Typical office hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. ET.
