Role

Major Duties, Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain County facilities, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, carpet spotting and cleaning restrooms, entries, walkway, and glass using appropriate cleaning solutions.
• Equipment care, including cleaning and changing belts and bags.
• Identify and report repair needs and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies for assigned buildings.
• Performs related work as required or assigned.

Expectations:

• Considerable knowledge of general cleaning procedures and chemical usage.
• Knowledge of procedures, materials, operation of equipment used in custodial work.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Perform manual labor.
• Work both independently and under close supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:
Six (6) months related experience or any combination of training, education or experience which demonstrates the potential to perform the duties of the position.

Education:
No specific amount of formal education is required.

Other Skills

Interpersonal Skills:
Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contacts, usually within the county and generally with immediate co-workers. Contact usually involves routine, non-sensitive issues. External contacts are limited to incidental contacts with the public, or no contact.

Other Skills:
Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and required preventative measures. Ability to bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time; move, lift, push, pull a variety of heavy objects; mix and work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, or similar solutions using normal protective equipment; remain in a standing position for extended periods of time; arm/disarm security systems and comply with job related safety standards. Where the position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, the applicant or employee must have a valid Arizona operator's license and shall operate the vehicle in conformance with applicable motor vehicle laws and County policy. Subject to individual department requirements and where the position routinely requires assignments in restricted and/or secured areas, the applicant or employee may be required to successfully complete a background investigation.
