Cultivation Technician

New Altitude LLC is a cannabis cultivation facility that is bringing premium quality medicine to the Mississippi market under the expert leadership of Paul LaPlante, a former Head Grower of Green Thumb Industries, the largest cannabis MSO in the world. Paul will be taking on a limited number of mentees in the Oxford area and will teach them all aspects of cannabis cultivation including irrigation, plant training, pest management, and maintenance of a biosecure facility. This entry-level role will teach you to maximize the potential of the cannabis plant through hands-on care such as watering, pulling leaves, planting, harvesting, trimming, and any other activities that are necessary to support the cultivation of our cannabis plants. Paul is looking for individuals that share his passion for the cannabis plant, individuals that are eager and motivated to learn and develop in this growing space, and individuals that are not afraid of hard work and getting their hands dirty.

What would you be doing as a Cultivation Technician?

The Cultivation Technician provides daily care of cannabis plants from planting to harvest. They will provide quality care and attention to the growing process of the plants from clone to harvest which includes cloning, transplanting, watering, and providing nutrients. The Cultivation Technician will care for vegetative and flowering plants. Detailed recordkeeping and strict adherence to the company’s operating procedures and compliance with the state regulations are essential for this position.

  • Ensure survival of genetics by cutting clones off of mother plants
  • Oversee the continued growth of the plant by watering daily, removing dead leaf material, training the plants, and transplanting as needed
  • Prevent and eradicate pests using proven methodologies to include pesticide application as needed
  • Assist in plant training by following Paul’s proven growth schedule
  • See the plants through the entire life cycle, concluding with the harvesting and trimming of the mature cannabis plant
  • Maintain a clean and secure environment

How do you know if you’re the right person for the Cultivation Technician role?

The Cultivation Technician does not need to have any prior experience in cannabis cultivation roles but should have experience working in a fast paced environment where most time is spent on your feet. Cannabis cultivation can at times be physically taxing and those that are prepared to work in such an environment will experience an easier transition. Plants communicate in a non-verbal manner and as such it is important that you be detail oriented and prepared to notice minute changes in the plants appearance and reaction to stimuli.

  • Experience in a fast-paced and physically demanding role
  • Comfortable working in a “greenhouse” environment
  • Excited to learn new things and progress in a growing and evolving industry
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Previous agriculture or plant experience is preferred
  • Detail oriented and able to focus on a single goal for extended periods of time
