CTE CULINARY CAREERS TEACHER

EFFECTIVE DATE OF ASSIGNMENT: September 1, 2023

LOCATION: Johnson City High School

STARTING SALARY: 2023-2024 Entry Salary,

Bachelors: $55,079 Masters: $58,605

Prorated based on contract (Higher rates available with prior experience)

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:

· Candidates with a valid NYS Certification in CTE Culinary Careers strongly preferred.

· Candidates who meet eligibility requirements for CTE Culinary Careers Transitional A certification and express a desire to pursue certification will be considered.

The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate the Ability to:

• Create and maintain a learning environment for students that nurtures academic and social-emotional growth.

• Make contributions to the culture of the school district both in and outside of the classroom setting.

• Actively engage students in the exploration of all aspects of culinary career preparation through hands-on experiences in high school level courses.

Transitional A Certification Requirements:

• Associate’s Degree or higher–Culinary Arts (If HS Diploma only, the candidate must take the Communicative and Quantitative Skills Test)
• At least 2 years of documented experience in the culinary field (4 years for candidates with a HS diploma)
• Fingerprint clearance
• NYS Workshops: Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Intervention and Prevention, Dignity
• School District Employment and Support Commitment–3 years

During that three year period of time, the Culinary Careers Teacher must take college-level courses in the following areas to qualify for an Initial Certification:

• Human Development and Learning
• Teaching Students with Disabilities & Special Health-Care Needs
• Curriculum & Instruction

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,079.00 - $58,605.00 per year
