Position: CRSS Instructor

Availability: Open

Reports to: Dean of NHSC (NEW HOPE SCHOOL OF COUNSELING)

Program: New Hope School of Counseling

Salary: CONTRACT POSITION ($50 per instruction hour)

Rincon Family Services (RFS) is a not-for-profit community organization, established in 1972 to combat the epidemic use of heroin and violence that were dismantling communities throughout Chicago. Position summary: The CRSS Instructor will plan, direct, and coordinate instructional material to students in the CRSS/CPRS Certification and Recovery Support Specialist Studies Program.

Essential Duties:

  • Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students of NHSC.
  • Handles information with discretion and understand confidentiality.
  • Maintain files and documents for student records and training requirements.
  • Teach courses within their subject area.
  • Develop an instructional plan (course outline and/or syllabus) for the course they teach and ensure that it meets school standards.
  • Plan lessons and assignments.
  • Assess students’ progress by grading papers, tests, and other work.
  • Design or use assessments to monitor student learning outcomes.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Competence in Office 365 suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive, and Zoom.

OTHER:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish language competency strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, instructors, and organization leadership.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
  • Flexibility to instruct in the evening 2x a week and/or weekend availability
  • This is a hybrid position

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The CRSS instructor must be able to successfully perform essential functions of this job including travel for classes; extensive continuous computer screen time and occasional carrying of objects up to 20lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There will be occasions for working from multiple sites and traveling between sites will occur.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPRS), or eligible preferred. CADC or other ICB Certification preferred.
  • Bachelors in related field with 1-2 years of experience in instruction preferred.
  • Full COVID 19 vaccination
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks.
  • Must be highly motivated, analytical, self-started, creative and detail oriented.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, customer relations and team development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 per hour
