In this role, you will be responsible for the operations and maintenance at the client’s data center. The Critical Operating Engineer will take daily direction from the client’s engineering leadership on-site. You will support all data center engineering and technology operations, facility and grounds maintenance, and other site support functions. You will be part of a team that is accountable for the operational performance readiness, reliability, and integrity of the mission-critical infrastructure systems and IT systems, which include the following: Air Handling Units UPSs, PDUs, Generators, Fuel Pumps, and Fuel Storage, Switchgear, Utility Feeds, Transfer Switches, Pumps, Water Piping, Fire Detection, Fire Suppression, Access Control, Monitoring, SCADA, and Leak Detection systems.

What does your day-to-day look like?

  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) operations and maintenance in a mission-critical environment

  • Responsible for compliance with the client’s Change Management System

  • Conduct routine and ongoing assessments of the infrastructure systems operations. Perform tests, and rounds, and analyze data to assure the proper functioning of all equipment

  • Manage the IT work order system to ensure that all internal SLAs are met

  • Creation and execution of the preventative maintenance procedures for all critical MEP systems.

  • Work closely with the Data Center & Engineering & Global Technology Infrastructure Platform teams to provide guidance/expertise on design goals, operational characteristics, and infrastructure systems to ensure efficient, maintainable operations

  • Perform tape rotations and custody transfers

  • Assist site Facility Management team with emergency situations e.g., fire alarms, chemical spills, and hazardous conditions, and take appropriate actions

  • Monitor pricing and work quality of outside contractors, and review monthly client service request summaries to pinpoint and correct recurrent operations problems

Skills and Experience

Required

  • A high school diploma or GED

  • Data center experience and knowledge of cabling and racking infrastructures

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license

  • Availability for 24/7/365 coverage and emergency response to infrastructure and IT equipment failures

Preferred

  • College or trade school

Pay: $30-36/HR depending on experience

Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some overtime to include Saturdays

Estimated compensation for this position is:

66,560.00 – 85,000.00 USD
