Employee manages the continuing development/evolution, maintenance, hiring, supervision and oversight of crisis programs and planning including those operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Program services include preadmission screenings and mobile crisis response for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use, intellectual disability, co-occurring issues and crisis along a continuum of care including programs for adult community stabilization and alternative solutions to hospitalization.

  • Develops and maintains a true continuum of community based, comprehensive crisis services for individuals with behavioral health issues and intellectual/developmental disabilities which allows individuals to move within the service continuum as need dictates and allows qualified staff to offer the most appropriate service when needed. ?
    • Services include a variety of response, intervention, diversion/stabilization and alternative solutions to inpatient hospitalization as well as preadmission screening for inpatient hospitalization when necessary.
    • Ensures development and implementation of the local Marcus Alert plan for the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck regions in conjunction with community stakeholders.
    • This position will be required to serve as the “On-call” Supervisor for Mobile Crisis when needed and to deliver services if shifts are not covered.
    • This position will be required to attend required training and to maintain licensure and credentials.
  • Supervises coordinators as well as some direct staff providers responsible for providing intervention services along the continuum including but not limited to crisis line response, pre-admission screenings for psychiatric hospitalization, mobile crisis response, de-escalations, adult community stabilization, outpatient restoration to competency services and critical incident stress management community responses;
  • Ensures adherence to all applicable state, federal, regional, local and agency regulations and requirements as applicable to program areas. Examples include, but are not limited to: Virginia Code, DBHDS licensure and performance contract, Regional Reinvestment Project protocols, 42 CFR, HIPAA, Human Rights, reimbursement requirements and Medicaid and Medicare regulations;
  • Provides case consultation, training and clinical supervision for services staff and interns to include emergency services, mobile crisis, COPE crisis line staff and other staff providing services along the continuum of crisis response; includes staff development, succession planning, performance management, employee relations;
  • Coordinates and conducts scheduled and unscheduled internal evaluations/ reviews for program quality improvement and utilization management as well as performance evaluations of staff; Completes division projects and produces timely and comprehensive deliverables; assists in the maintenance of information systems for data collection and reporting;
  • Provides development, oversight and management of the budget for the program areas including managing expenditures and maximizing reimbursements and revenue.

  • LMHP in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • At least 3 to 5 years full time (or part time equivalent) experience in management, supervision and administration in the behavioral health field, at least part of that in the public sector.
  • Position-related experience in Emergency/Crisis Services provision.

Preferred:

  • Program administration and staff supervision in Crisis services.

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter as required by licensing authority.
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications.
  • Must maintain all additional trainings as required by regulatory and/or licensing entities.
  • TRAVEL throughout the MPNN CSB, the DBHDS Region 5, and the state is required.
