The position will be days from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

GENERAL FUNCTION
Provide callers with information about and make referrals to community resources; provide supportive and crisis telephone counseling and follow-up; provide supporting documentation for all client/caller contacts; determine need for and request Mobile Crisis Responses, complete detailed crisis assessments, provide county Chapter 51 approvals to Law Enforcement. Also serve as access point to community for Adult Protective Services (APS), Guardianship, and Community Service Program referrals. Provide direct support and supervision to clients in crisis in crisis stabilization programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Primarily via telephone, provide information on community resources; conduct supportive and crisis counseling; refer clients to appropriate services, determine need for and request Mobile Crisis Responses, provide county approval for Chapter 51 detentions, conduct case follow-up as needed. This duty requires strict adherence to rules of confidentiality.
2. Maintain computerized client records.
3. Create and update computerized community resource data; create and update computer information on ongoing clients.
4. Participate in consultation with other Human Services personnel and Medical Director to review client cases as needed.
5. Assist in initiating/completing other departmental projects or activities as assigned by Legal and Crisis Supervisor. For example: statistical reports, promoting crisis intervention (CI) through public speaking engagements, documentation, scanning, etc.
6. Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
7. Assist in training new staff.
8. Successfully complete all Community Based Residential Facilities (CBRF) training required under DHS 83. Provide supervision to Crisis Stabilization, CBRF clients and assist with daily functions of Crisis Stabilization CBRF. This includes assisting clients with daily living skills, general upkeep of the CBRF, monitoring and documenting progress, linkage and follow-up and other general tasks as assigned.
9. Assess mental health needs of clients and determine need for medical clearance.
10. Provide back-up for other Crisis Interventionists.
11. Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.

B. OTHER DUTIES
1. Disseminate pertinent prevention materials to consumers on mental health, alcohol and other drug abuse, and developmental disabilities topics.
2. Other duties as assigned may be required.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services field like psychology, sociology, criminal justice, health and wellness, or other similar program, is required. One year of experience is preferred, working in a crisis intervention program or a clinical setting. Position requires having or obtaining necessary trainings to meet CBRF certification and DHS 34 Emergency Mental Health requirements. DHS 34 training requires an initial 40 hours of training, which includes suicide risk & assessment, WI mental health laws and an overview of crisis services. This position requires that the candidate have strong communication skills, both oral and written (interviewing, counseling and documentation). A broad knowledge base of mental health, alcohol and other drug abuse, and developmental disabilities, along with the laws pertaining to these conditions is very desirable. This position requires the ability to work independently under potentially high stress situations, (e.g., high suicide risk caller). Basic, everyday living skills are needed. Reading, adding, and subtracting is needed for assessing reports, documenting client contacts.

Basic office equipment used: copy machine, computer terminal and printer, telephone, telephone diverter, fax machine, scanner, calculator, related software/databases and other equipment as needed.
