Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Crisis Behavioral Health Specialist position will be to provide supervision and supportive services in a transitional residential environment or residential crisis stabilization environment that serves adults with recurrent mental health disorders. Consistency is a must.

Some specific duties include:

• Maintaining a safe, stable, supportive, and productive environment during the time spent with residents for the purpose of stabilizing episodes of crisis and promoting a successful discharge back to community based living, thereby reducing the need for hospitalization; or promoting a successful transition from transitional housing to permanent, community-based housing;
• Monitoring resident safety and medication compliance;
• Providing services as a member of a pool of Community Support staff, to be activated on an as-needed basis for attendant, psychosocial, and crisis observation services;
• Assist in acclimating new residents when needed by following established admission procedures
• Providing individualized support in reference to the client's treatment goals and objectives within the transitional living or crisis stabilization environment; assisting with preparation and facilitation of psycho-social groups; providing attendant care services in a variety of settings; providing crisis observation services within a residential crisis stabilization setting;
• Implementing structured time, activities, and behavioral interventions designed to increase daily living skills or facilitate crisis stabilization and prepare residents for independent living in the community;
• Engaging residents during un-structured time to help build needed social or recovery-oriented skills;
• Delivering reimbursable hours of service compliant with established standards;
• Completing all paperwork associated with the financial, clinical, legal, or regulatory management of the [img> case or BNCs operations in a timely and accurate manner;

Qualifications:

Including but not limited to:

• Bert Nash Center requires proof of Covid-19 immunization prior to starting any position. Covid-19 vaccine series must be completed or in process to be cleared for new hire orientation.
• One year of college course work in the field of human services or one year of experience in the field of human services; or other experiences with adults who have severe and persistent mental illness which can serve as a basis for understanding symptoms and treatment; a combination of at least one year of education, and/or work, and/or experience in the field of human services can substitute for a year in any one area;
• Reliable transportation and valid, unrestricted driver's license;
• Be 21 years or older;
• Prior computer experience and basic computer fluency; willingness and ability to learn new programs; familiarity with MS SharePoint is a plus
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs;
