Positions in this function are responsible for all activities associated with credentialing or re-credentialing physicians and providers. Includes processing provider CAQH applications and re-applications including, loading into the database tracking system ensuring high quality standards are maintained. Conducts audits and provides feedback to reduce errors and improve processes and performance. Responsible for the development of credentialing policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Credentialing Supervisor in gathering credentialing and re-credentialing on all providers according to the Policies and Procedures in place
  • Assists in completing provider applications for all newly employed credentialed providers for select groups
  • Assists in tracking and maintaining of all provider licensure and updating provider database with all current information
  • Assists in the maintenance of filing for all providers credentialing files
  • Assists Credentialing Supervisor and internal staff with any special projects or credentialing issues
  • Processes the credentialing and re-credentialing on all providers according to the Policies and Procedures in place
  • Maintains all physician provider files and provider database files with current information and documentation
  • Works with health plans, hospitals, and other healthcare organizations to provide current physician information
  • Tracks provider licensure for all employed and contracted providers
  • Works independently
  • May act as a resource for others
  • Applies knowledge/skills to a range of moderately complex activities
  • Demonstrates great depth of knowledge/skills in own function
  • Proactively identifies solutions to non-standard requests
  • Solves moderately complex problems on own
  • Works with team to solve complex problems

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with provider credentialing
  • Experience working with compliance workflows and processes, including NCQA policies
  • Clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare setting
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Excel and Word
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00 pm local time


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Credentialing experience in a managed care organization, IPA/Medical Group organization and which included provider database processing
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality while working with sensitive information
  • Proven detail-oriented, well-organized and can multi-task effectively
