Job Title: Creamery Production Lead

Idyll Farms is a 500+ acre goat farm and creamery located in Northport, Michigan, a small town perched on the edge of Lake Michigan on the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula. As our herd is expanding and production is increasing, Idyll Farms is looking to hire a full-time Creamery Production Lead. Our creamery team is small but mighty! The ideal candidate for this position must be highly detail oriented and have strong leadership skills. Experience working in the commercial food production industry is a plus! Training in cheese making is provided. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, be able to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently and collaboratively, willing to take on new tasks and have a positive attitude. As a small business where all employees work as a team, employees may be required to assist on the farm when needed.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Lead and oversee cheese production including but not limited to pasteurizing, milk testing, processing, affinage.
• Maintain and enforce maintenance and sanitation schedules while following proper sanitation procedures.
• Conduct training of Creamery Assistants.
• Troubleshoot issues, as applicable, with cheese production.
• Maintain all required logs, records, inventories, recipes and data collected.
• Assist Sanitation Lead and Packaging Lead, when needed.
• Assist Creamery Management as needed in development and maintenance of all SOPs, SSOPs, GMPs.
• Perform routine, basic, and periodic evaluation of equipment fixtures and elements used throughout the creamery and caves to ensure optimal function.
• Assist with preparation and presentation of tours and farmer’s market, as needed.
• Perform testing using various equipment, such as- a PH meter, a moisture analyzer, SCC, and a

Residue ATP machine.

• Perform weekly environmental monitoring.
• Prepare product samples for product testing.

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of food industry experience
• Previous Serv Safe and HACCP training and/or experience a plus!
• Detail oriented
• Able to follow written and verbal instruction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver's license required

The Creamery Production Lead position requires being able to stand for long periods of time, engage in physically rigorous activity, and lift up to #55 repeatedly.

The average hours for this position are 40 to 50 hours per week.

Pay: $17- $20.00 per hour
