Court Administrator

5th Judicial District Court
Pahrump, NV

Plans, organizes, oversees, and administers the support services for the effective functioning of the courtrooms in the Fifth Judicial District. Responsible for the management and supervision of all district courtrooms, including courtroom staff.
Administers the daily operations of the Courts, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of the case management systems, strategic planning, and fiscal activity, including budget development and administration and supervision of financial matters for the Court. Provides for the coordination of activities with the judicial system and other county and state departments. Administers the duties of the Office of the Clerk as defined by the Nevada Revised Statutes and court policy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Oversees, monitors and coordinates case management and processing to ensure the most effective and efficient handling of cases.
  • Supervises the processing of all forms, documents, and payments.
  • Plans, organizes, manages, reviews, and evaluates the work of support staff.
  • Supervises assigned staff and ensures adequate scheduling for appropriate coverage in the courtrooms.
  • Oversees training and staff development and the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards.
  • Oversees the maintenance of accurate records, including the automation of the calendaring and record keeping systems.
  • Develops and maintains, a court record retention policy.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all court records and documents, providing for secure storage and appropriate access to said records and documents.
  • Develops and implements procedures, goals, objectives, policies, and work standards assuring compliance with court and county policies and procedures; and makes revisions as necessary.
  • Coordinates activities and services with those of other courts, departments, and outside agencies to meet the needs, goals, and objectives of the Court.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the Court’s Strategic Plan.
  • Assists in setting Court goals and objectives.
  • Provides professional advice and assistance to the Court.
  • Directs the preparation and coordination of the Court’s calendars.
  • Confers with the Court regarding laws, policies and administrative programs and procedures.
  • Assures compliance with all court rules and ethical rules of conduct.
  • Assures minimum accounting standards are being followed.
  • Research operational and administrative problems, evaluates alternatives, recommends solutions, and implements adopted changes.
  • Advises the Court with regard of the need for development and/or modification of Court policies and procedures.
  • Answers inquiries, provides information and resolves complaints from the public and others regarding court processing functions and activities, which often requires the use of judgment and the interpretation of policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Develops, prepares, administers, and maintains the Court’s annual operating and capital budget.
  • Develops, prepares, administers, and maintains operational, budget, and statistical data and information.
  • Prepares, or directs the preparation of a variety of reports for Court use or for submission to various agencies.
  • Develops court related business rules, requirements, and performance standards.
  • Coordinates, manages and/or performs various projects and other administrative activities with other departments, other state and local officials and staff.
  • Arranges for maintenance, repair, and purchase of courtroom equipment to ensure proper functioning of the courts.
  • Coordinates information technology activity with outside vendors, appropriate county support staff, other courts, and the state.
  • Attends meetings at all Court locations and supervises all locations, necessitating occasional travel.
  • Represents the Court at various meetings and other events and serves on various committees as representatives of the Court.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Court.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Court Administration, Business Administration or Public

Administration desirable.

  • At least two years of courtroom experience with increasing supervisory responsibility working with the District Courts in Nevada.
  • Working knowledge of the statutes, regulations, court rules and practices applicable to Nevada’s District Courts and District Court Systems
  • Must be able to travel to, and work in, court offices throughout the Fifth Judicial

District Court.

Pay Rate: $39.02/hr

Nye County requires a pre-employment drug screen through a designated facility; employment is contingent upon successful completion of this process.
