DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a full time professional casework position responsible for the provision of a full range of social services to children and families in need of Children, Youth and Families' assessment and/or services. Located in the Lehigh Valley, we have an ample array of social service agencies working in collaboration with our agency. Northampton County is committed to quality care and services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and present valid proof of vaccinated status, in order to be eligible for hire with the County of Northampton. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people are considered fully vaccinated two (2) weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series (such as Pfizer or Moderna vaccines), or two (2) weeks after a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine).

The County of Northampton will follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines with regard to booster(s) and when individuals are considered fully vaccinated.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• 
  Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
• Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
• A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
• A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe or Northampton counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties will be considered.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
