Minimum Qualifications: Hiring subject to applicable URJ and Pennsylvania State background checks.

Prior experience working with and a fondness for elementary, middle, or high school age children in a formal or informal setting necessary. High School graduate or the equivalent. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility, manage multiple responsibilities at once and work as part of a team. Love and/or respect for The Arts and a diverse community is a must.

Responsibilities

JEWISH

• Actively participate and demonstrate respect in ritual moments
• Incorporate core values and summer theme into bunk rituals and group moments in meaningful and appropriate ways
• Support campers on their Jewish journeys, answering questions when appropriate and providing resources when necessary
• Serve as a positive, Jewish role model

ARTS

• Support campers in their skills training and artistic growth
• Assist and, when asked, facilitate workshops, warm-ups, and activities in Arts Majors, under the guidance and support of the Arts Mentor.
• Craft and lead an arts elective for campers. Past offerings have included: Musical Theatre Choreography, Hip Hop, Poetry, Sewing, and Art as Advocacy
• Cheer at showcase

CAMP

• Direct day-to-day support to each camper in their daily routine, helping them to feel a part of the community in their own way, forming interpersonal connections with peers, and assisting participants in navigating personal goals, struggles, and triumphs with the goal of investing campers in programming
• With creative guidance and support from Unit Head, craft, and implement the day-to-day bunk routine, including boker tov and lilah tov (morning and night) rituals, menucha (rest hour), mealtime, activity transitions, and nikayon (clean-up) with co-counselor(s)
• Facilitate transitions between activities, ensuring that all campers get to their correct destination, including counting campers between program blocks and walking campers to designated locations.
• Display leadership for campers and ability to adapt to schedule changes.
• Lead or co-lead a kinesthetic art (non-competitive sport activity) during assigned unit’s time.
• Collaborate with co-counselor(s) to complete nightly cabin logs designed to document mental, physical, emotional, and overall status of campers and yourself; turn digital logs in to the Residential Life team
• Engage with campers during meals, on-dorm, and all-camp or unit activities. Be mindfully and conversationally present
• Serve on-duty on a revolving basis after bunks-in on assigned dorm floor
• Actively participate and encourage others in camp activities.
• Contribute to the overall positive morale of the camp community
• Maintain strict confidentiality of staff, camper, and family information
• Other duties as requested. May include, but not limited to staffing intersession, assisting with load in and/or load out, accompanying a camper to an off-campus medical visit, and airport runs on opening/closing days
