Summary:

The Cost Accountant will perform advanced cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs and prepare a variety of related variance, pricing, and budget reports.

Essential Functions and Key Position Accountabilities:

  • Understand costing in both Manufacturing and Retail Food and Beverage settings.
  • Effectively inform and help navigate the financial components of big-box retail marketing, promotion, and rebate programs
  • Gathers and compiles cost information and maintains database concerning expenses.
  • Develops systems and procedures for absorption and cost accounting functions.
  • Generates and distribute daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual spend, inventory, and production reports as needed
  • Determines fixed costs such as bill of materials, cost of labor and overhead.
  • Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs. Understands Actual versus Theoretical calculations and reporting.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins.
  • Provides product sample costs for both La Mexicana and Taco Time NW leadership teams.
  • Works with operations support departments such as export, logistics, and inventory control to facilitate timely and accurate recording of production and shipments. Troubleshoots and researches unexplained inventory transactions
  • Reviews and analyzes actual costs to identify inaccuracies.
  • Assists in overseeing and valuation of monthly and annual physical inventory.
  • Participates in monitoring and confirming financial condition by participating in audits; providing information to external auditors.
  • Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports.
  • Works with Accounting to perform month-end and year-end closings.
  • Determines and recommends cost-effective solutions above Gross Margin areas and below.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at one time
  • Quick to learn and adapt to new software packages.
  • Adapts to changes in work assignments and environment, is willing to assume additional responsibility and learn new processes
  • Support special projects and other designated activities, as assigned. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned by Manager


Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION

1. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related subjects. Specialization in Cost Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis preferred.

EXPERIENCE

2. This position requires a minimum of three years accounting experience, preferably in both a food manufacturing and restaurant or service industry environment.

3. Bakery manufacturing experience preferred.

d. Effective organizational and analytical skills.

4. Computer/Office Skills

a. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 software required.

b. Advanced proficiency in MS Office Excel and limited proficiency in other MS Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

c. Limited proficiency in Compeat F&B software preferred.

d. Ability to use standard office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, and fax machines.

e. Proficient keyboarding skills required.
