POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coordinator (Turnaround Schools) is responsible for ensuring effective implementation of turnaround strategies to improve student achievement in targeted schools. The incumbent will oversee the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of academic school turnaround efforts. This position will facilitate effective collaboration with school leadership teams and central office staff to ensure initiatives are well designed and responsive to school needs. This position will report to the Director of School Support and will work with the Assistant Superintendent for Innovation, Improvement & Redesign and other staff to integrate Initiatives, provide resources and communication, minimize risks and issues, and ensure timely and cost-effective implementation of turnaround initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Ensures effective implementation of turnaround incentives.
  • Facilitates collaboration with staff across departments and functions to ensure seamless implementation of initiatives in schools.
  • Identifies, procures and coordinates with external partners responsible for delivering key services to schools and students.
  • Takes an active role in problem-solving with school and/or district leadership teams.
  • Attends school and/or district leadership meetings regularly and coordinate the work of other district personnel who are responsible for attending school/district leadership meetings.
  • Monitors the progress of Establish expected outcomes and evaluation methods.
  • Facilitates analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to make conclusions and take timely actions toward meeting intended outcomes.
  • Removes district barriers that may hinder progress.
  • Provides needed resources, services and materials for students in alignment with schools' turnaround initiatives.
  • Communicates progress, changes, needs, in a timely and effective manner to appropriate audiences.
  • Provides regular updates to the Executive Director of School Turnaround and Director of School Support on initiative activities.
  • Provides support and feedback to the principal as needed or requested.
  • Maintains a current knowledge base in the areas of curriculum and instruction, best practices in education, special education, strategies for school improvement, strategies for closing achievement gaps, effective project management and communication strategies, applicable federal and state regulations, and local district policies and procedures.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.

Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.

Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.

Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.
