About The Function:
Summary
Our client is an entrepreneurial, sales oriented, mid-market, employee-owned, 60-year-old, lighting representative agency who is looking for a Controller to be responsible for all accounting and financial planning matters. Duties and responsibilities include financial statement preparation, working closely with their independent CPA firm, cash management, planning, analysis and ad hoc reporting.

The individual will report directly to the COO and will also work closely with other executive team members. S/He will be responsible for mentoring a staff of three employees in the accounting/finance areas of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense and commission reporting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation of all internal monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Coordinate and support audits of financial statements, workers’ compensation, 401K, and ESOP with independent auditors
  • Manage and control cash including funding payroll, monitor use of available funds and report on cash status and forecasts
  • Reconcile monthly commission income report
  • Manage accounts receivable collections and report preparation
  • Prepare and file Sales and Use tax for all companies/states
  • Assist with maintaining banking relationships including financial requests, covenant compliance, etc.
  • Deliver detailed sales reports
  • Provide sales departments with supporting financial documents/analysis as needed
  • Oversee Accounting Staff of 3 and manage their monthly procedures and responsibilities
  • Assist with 401K/ESOP benefits and payroll administration as required
  • Other duties as assigned by the COO

Job Requirements
  • 10+ years of working experience in an accounting/finance role specifically preparing monthly financial statements for multiple companies
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related
  • A CPA and/or MBA would be a plus
  • QuickBooks software experience desired
  • Willing to be extremely hands-on and participate in providing support for executive decision making
  • Proven track record of excellent interpersonal/management skills
  • Must possess the ability to work well with others
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet required deadlines
  • Capable of multi-tasking
  • In office 4-5 days a week (ideally in Bucks County, PA or possibly in Essex/Morris County, NJ)
  • Must be local to the office
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
