Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking a Construction Supervisor to be responsible for overseeing the construction and implementation process for Capital, Engineering projects as assigned. This position is to provide leadership and guidance throughout the design, fabrication, construction, and commissioning of all assigned projects. Their duties include upholding the use of engineering specified materials, engineering and vendor supplied drawings and documentation, piping and steel fabrication, equipment installation, concrete and rebar installation, building construction, managing construction safety procedures, adhering to budgets to complete tasks and/or purchase materials, and reviewing contracts to make sure that current practices align with expectations. This is an exempt, salaried position that reports to the Engineering Manager.

Successful candidates must have sufficient knowledge and experience of engineering and construction processes and procedures in a heavy industrial setting. They will provide direct supervision to Contract civil, structural, mechanical electrical, instrumentation, general construction, and other assigned crews. This position is responsible for training and maintaining an efficient crew, coordinating, and executing work activities. This position will be responsible for integration of construction activities with the Planning and Scheduling, Maintenance, and Operating teams. This position will be responsible for enforcing the company engineering and quality of work standards, policies, and procedures of all Contractor deliverables including safety policies and practices.

This person will be responsible for Contractor and crew personnel safety and the communication of safety throughout the factory. This person will be the company liaison and will resolve issues with outside agencies pertaining to project construction (fire, police, contractors, utilities, etc.). This person will be responsible to ensure that their crew has the proper training, certifications, and equipment licensing necessary for construction and related maintenance activities of the facility.

This position is also responsible for preparing, maintaining, and adhering to accurate budgets, accounting, and accruals for assigned Engineering projects. This position is responsible for developing, updating, and communicating project construction and implementation schedules. This position will be required to use computer programs to effectively perform their work duties. These could include: JDE CAM, Kronos, AutoCAD, MS Project and other Microsoft programs, etc.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Leading and/or participating in incident investigations- excellent interpersonal communication skills with key stakeholders

· Supporting the department long-term Capital plan and asset management goals

· Utilize JDE CAM where appropriate for Construction management.

· Ensure all construction activities adhere to Amalgamated’s Safety Policies and Procedures including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Hot work Permits, Take 5’s, and Open Trench Permitting.

· Assist with material management including material inspection and tagging for contractor installation.

· Knowledge and use of AutoCAD and MS Project.

· Pipe and conduit labelling

· Establish, promote, and maintain lines of communication, cooperation, and coordination, between other departments of the company

· Proven experience in planning, problem solving, and organizational skills

· Provide all necessary reporting and project communication to all key stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

· Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and supplies.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

· Qualifications:

· Excellent verbal and written communications. Excellent interpersonal skills.

· High school diploma

· Minimum of 5-7 years of construction and/or maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing plant or refinery with specific experience in construction design and management.

· Extensive knowledge of factory equipment, procedures, and operations

· Obtain a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate within the first year of position

· Considerable knowledge in employee supervision

· Knowledge and proficiency in procurement and budgeting processes.

· Proficient in understanding engineering drawings and construction documentation.

· OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $69,166.00 - $81,085.00 per year
