Become a Construction Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll provide support to the Distribution Project Management (DPM) group, and directly support the DPM Project Manager and the Project Team. Support is provided for a multitude of project types; all related to the completion of critical Distribution Infrastructure Replacement work to replace aging infrastructure and improve the reliability of SCE’s electrical system. The Construction Specialist also provides analytical support to review and process work order packages, and ensure the work is authorized to proceed for construction, acquires project status, updates and maintains the project data in P6, and works with the appropriate Project Team member to help remove obstacles and clear dependencies throughout the project’s lifecycle. You will also support the project manager in tracking and reviewing in-flight projects with project team by participating in monthly tactical meetings, ad-hoc project status meetings, and job walks as needed.

  • Provide data on status of projects and their requirements, clarify issues and ensure that Region personnel receive the appropriate support for the successful completion of projects.
  • Research, analyze, interpret sophisticated data, and problem tackle.
  • Responsible for verifying, analyzing and updating information in P6 and Waterfall Report, SAP and DM systems as well as Excel.
  • Complete the monthly reporting activities, maintaining data integrity in P6 and Waterfall Report and reporting data for ad-hoc Data Requests.
  • Build and maintain records, logs, documents, files and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Participate and influence industry initiatives that may affect the site and will need to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
  • Maintain a safety conscious work environment, by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and work well in a team environment.
Qualifications


The essentials

  • Two years of analytical or administrative support experience.
  • Two years of experience working with Microsoft Excel.

The preferred

  • Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Electric distribution experience.
  • Project Management Certification.
  • Experience in project management theories and practices.
  • Experience crafting and maintaining records, logs, documents, files, or databases for use in monitoring, tracking, and trending program/project costs, budget and production variance, resources, schedules, and status for management with attention to detail.
  • Experience reviewing, updating and preparing reports, documents, or correspondence for internal and external customers to provide project updates and status with attention to detail.
  • Experience performing risk analysis, capturing documents and researching data on assigned topics, using databases, files, spreadsheets, or other sources.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects/assignments concurrently with minimal oversight under tight timelines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and SAP.
  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage information, and provide outstanding service to internal and external customers.

  • Work Mode: The position’s work mode is remote. Employee is able to work primarily at home or remote however, the employee may be expected to come to an SCE facility on occasion. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
