Job description

The Construction Manager oversees implementing the project plan for construction activities, delivering the projects within budget and at a pre-determined cost level. This individual will work closely with the client to provide status updates on timelines and budgeted costs and will be responsible for all documentation for change orders. The CM will most likely be working on multiple projects for multiple clients.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage and train field teams in proper installation/modification of refrigerated fixtures, piping, equipment, and operations.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications.
  • Understand contractual terms and conditions.
  • Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals promptly.
  • Provide clear, detailed quantity take-offs.
  • Organize sub-contractors quotations, negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents and issue properly documented purchase orders.
  • Create and execute project work plans, including tracking and reporting resource availability, and revise them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities. Establish clear project roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the overall planning for communication, project risk, change management, and training.
  • Facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
  • Gather and review construction documents.
  • Working with other Project Managers during bidding, negotiation, and post-bid process
  • Visit job sites to monitor production/quality assurance.
  • Review the work progress daily.
  • Prepare internal and external reports about job status.
  • Plan properly to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts, and obtain permits and licenses.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Strong supermarket refrigeration installation and remodel experience.
  • MS Project expertise and strong Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills are required.
  • Gantt schedule creation and editing skills are needed.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality projects on tight schedules.
  • Strong and effective decision-making skills a must.

Education/Experience:

  • 5+ years of refrigeration construction experience required.
  • Universal EPA certification is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office / Microsoft Windows.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds; noise level is usually quiet.
