Construction Accountant

Our environmental remediation and selective demolition (subcontract construction) company located in North Richland Hills, Texas, is seeking a construction accountant to join our team. This candidate will be responsible for providing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll and accounting support reporting to our Controller and managing partners.

This is a position suited for someone with prior construction accounting experience looking to expand their exposure to full-cycle construction accounting processes.

• Oversee and assist timesheet and data entry processes for weekly payroll processing.
• Own the weekly payroll processing and certified payroll reporting with our payroll service.
• Maintain weekly payroll journal entries in ERP system.
• Assist HR with related tasks including cloud filing, employee status changes, training, employment verifications, and onboarding.
• Completion of weekly internal labor spreadsheet for KPI tracking.
• Provide first line of assistance to satellite locations regarding A/P, payroll, time tracking, project set-up and other data entry related issues for proper job cost tracking and financial statement reconciliation.
• Assist with monthly reconciliations of income statement and balance sheet accounts-payroll expense, per diems, 401K liabilities, employee advances, etc.
• Complete annual general liability and worker’s comp audits.
• Provide back-up and support to Controller with month-end close process.
• Assist the Controller with annual audit and financial statement reconciliations.
• Work with cost accountant to facilitate construction project billing and cost reconciliations.
• Contribute to the monthly preparation of work-in-process/percent complete job reviews.
• Provide back-up for monthly bank reconciliations and weekly accounts payable check runs.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with highly sensitive information.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to complete projects as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)

• Working knowledge of construction project accounting principles, practices, and methods and their application.
• Experience utilizing iSolved, ADP, Paychex, or another payroll processer
• 3+ years of relevant post education experience with prior project accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft skills particularly Outlook, Excel - pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas.
• Experience with Acumatica, QuickBooks, iSolved, FieldFlo, and other similar ERPs.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
