Job Profile and Description: Commercial Concrete Foreman

Reports to: Project Manager, Estimator, Owner/Operator

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge of the working conditions to include physical requirements necessary to perform this job. The Concrete Foreman role is essential and assists the Project Manager in ensuring timely and successful completion of construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Must be able to pass a drug screening.

· Must be able to pass a background check and get on a United State Air Force base.

· Must have a valid driver license.

· Must have basic computer/technology skills.

· Must possess thorough knowledge of concrete installation and finishing.

· Manage and mentor small to midsize crews successfully and collaboratively. Supervise and train employees. Allocate general and daily responsibilities of crew and provide overall guidance. Evaluate crew members.

· Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew.

· Manage and maintain time-keeping records. Review crew members daily time logs and verify correct time worked.

· Conduct daily crew meetings (morning huddles).

· Responsible for crew production.

· Responsible to keep Human Resources and Management informed of known disciplinary actions, written or verbal. Properly address employee disciplinary actions and fill out company Notice of Disciplinary Action form and submit to Human Resources no later than the next business day.

· Communicate all terminations, voluntary or involuntary, to Human Resources immediately. Provide Human Resources with written Employee Termination Notice form and explanation of termination as soon as possible.

· Responsible for company vehicle and trailer service and maintenance. Keeping truck and trailers clean, orderly, and organized. Keeping truck DOT compliant.

· Ability to read blueprints, plans, and specifications. Ensure that concrete structures are accurately placed and installed.

· Read, understand and interpret plans and specifications as required and coordinate with Project Manager to ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.

· Ability to manage a variety of commercial/industrial concrete projects.

· Oversee storing and maintenance of forms and materials.

· Inspect forms before each pour and verify measurements and layout.

· Oversee all activities pertaining to concrete preparation, placement, installation, finishing, and curing.

· Manage Project; Perform on-site coordination of manpower, materials, and equipment.

· Maintain accurate records of yardage poured.

· Request material needed for scope of work.

· Verify and coordinate scope of work with on-site Superintendent and other on-site personnel, including other trades.

· Ability to plan day to day operations, as well as work with management to forecast schedules.

· Work collaboratively with Project Manager, Superintendent, project team members, and field.

· Represent Innovative Concrete, LLC to clients in a professional manner and build trusting relationships.

· Manage a clean and organized job site: Responsible for making sure crews pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards and responsible for inspecting tools and equipment. Enhance the company’s reputation with diligently maintaining the appearance of the job site.

· Must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, take directions, and complete tasks on time.

  • Provide strong attention to detail while producing accurate and high-quality work within budget and schedule.

· Ensure company policy, procedures, and standards are enforced.

· Maintain high level of safety and adherence to all safety policies and procedures. Must be able to implement and enforce all established safety rules and regulations. Observe safety and security procedures; Remedy potentially unsafe conditions; Manage equipment and materials properly.

  • Responsible for the proper use of company credit card and for submitting credit card receipts to the finance department by the last day of month.

Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manual work in preparing surfaces.
  • Rake and Shovel concrete.
  • Concrete Finishing and Screeding of all types of concrete structures and flatwork.

· Spread, level, and smooth concrete using rakes, shovels, hand or power trowels, ride-on trowels, hand or power screeds, and floats.

· Operate power vibrator to consolidate concrete.

· Finish corners by hand.

· Smooth high spots and fill depressions; Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.

· Concrete patching.

· Load and unload materials, machinery, and tools. Hauling and hoisting of materials. Carry forms and materials from truck and trailer to area for form setting.

  • Spray forms with form oil.
  • Setting of concrete footing, wall, and slab forms. Set forms to the desired depth and pitch while aligning them. Ensure that forms are properly constructed for concrete pours. Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation.
  • Remove concrete forms.
  • Efficiently bend, form, tie and install rebar. Efficiently cut and install wire mesh.
  • Direct cement truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete. Operate chute to ensure that concrete be poured in the correct places.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
  • Spray cure on concrete when complete.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools to include but not limited to circular saws, demolition saws, jigsaws, grinders, jack hammers, concrete saws, etc. and perform minor maintenance as required.
  • Properly clean, inspect, and maintain the appearance of company equipment by keeping tools clean, handling and storing materials, and keeping trucks and trailers orderly and organized.

· Perform other related duties as required. Complete additional tasks as developed and assigned by supervisor or management.

· Provide other support whether apparent, required or needed. Willing and able to jump in and do whatever is needed to get the job done.

  • Assist and fully cooperate with the Project Manager to ensure timely and successful completion of construction projects.

· Teach and lead new employees

· Must wear proper attire: Hard hat, Sturdy Work Boots, High Visibility clothing, Safety Glasses, and Personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Must provide own hand finish tools for daily use.

· At times this position requires:

o Concrete demolition: breaking out concrete, wheeling broken concrete, and loading into tractor or truck.

o Running a jack hammer.

o Running a skid steer and/or bobcat.

o Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using power saw and drill.

Skills, Abilities, Qualifications, and Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to perform general physical activities common to the Concrete trade that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as frequent standing, bending, squatting, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, reaching, twisting, kneeling, and handling of materials.

· Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs. of material and equipment. Heavy Work Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

· Possess thorough knowledge of concrete installation and finishing to perform the necessary physical tasks at all work sites.

· Must have basic construction skills (use of hammer, shovel, etc.). Must have knowledge of proper use of a tape measure.

· Must have the ability to use hand or power trowels, ride-on trowels, hand or power screeds, and floats.

· Ability to use hand tools and power tool equipment.

· Must be able to work safely and follow all established safety rules and regulations. Observe safety and security procedures; Report potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.
