The daily tasks, duties, and responsibilities that majorly make up the healthcare compliance specialist include:

• Oversight of the company compliance program.
• Design and implementation of enhancements to the compliance program aimed at minimizing risk.
• Coordinating and facilitating corporate compliance meetings as well as keeping minutes and tracking action items.
• Manage the lifecycle of company policies including creation, implementation, communication, and regular review.
• Tracking recurring audit and monitoring tasks to ensure completion according to schedule and managing any issues or corrective actions.
• Performance of various audit activities to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Facilitate investigation and documentation of any reported compliance incidents.
• Work with third party vendor, who performs monthly chart reviews, to document results and address issues.
• Ensure employees are checked against state and federal exclusion databases.
• Ensure licensed providers keep licenses up to date.
• Ensure the compliance program meets the requirements of HIPAA privacy and security standards.
• Create compliance training program and deliver annually.
• Responsible for the preparation of compliance reports and metrics and presentation to management.
• Stay abreast with the US Healthcare Compliance laws, regulations, and enforcement environment, and understand how they impact the organization.
• Collaborate with other departments, including Marketing, Finance, HR, Billing, and Dental/Ortho/Surgery Center Clinical Operations
• Provide guidance to employees on the organizations compliance policies and programs, and also educate staff on applicable compliance rules, regulations, and best practices.
• Carry out special projects related to compliance.
• Manage compliance matters and risk in a professional manner.
• Conduct regular review of compliance program to ensure continuous improvement.
• Encourage a zero-tolerance environment where fraud or non-compliance is unacceptable.
