Job Title: Director of Catering and Conference Services

Department: Sales

Company: Dimension Hospitality

Reports To: Complex Director of Sales and Marketing

Supervises: Catering Manager, Convention/Conference Service Managers, Catering Assistant

Job Purpose: This position is responsible for managing hotel catering accounts that will generate, achieve and meet catering revenue goals through revenue maximization. Additionally, oversight of conference services to ensure high degree of customer and event satisfaction, expansion/increase market share and development of return business.

Job Responsibilities:

1.Lead, train & mentor catering/conference service staff including hiring, coaching development, performing evaluations, productivity and checking quality of work

2.Maintain regular and frequent contact with all existing accounts and follow up on all leads and inquiries as assigned

3.Draft policies, forecast activity and set objectives for department.

4.Identify and develop new accounts and business through telephone and in-person contact.

5.Finance: Responsible for all charges are correctly posted to group and event master accounts. Ensure that accounting receive accurate/timely information on services used

6.Coordinate and oversee all company special events; Personally own Owner’s events, High profile groups, “key” volume accounts

7.Provide facility tours and site inspections for clients and potential clients, in conjunction with sales and conference service managers.

8.Begin menu-planning process for groups when needed and design banquet event orders detailing client needs for implementation by operational departments.

9.Oversee program agendas, meeting space/food & beverage requirements, including Room block/set-up, and audio visual needs

10.Use leadership knowledge in BEO, Pre-Post Conference and Sales meetings to develop plans/strategies to enhance experience, production and revenues

Maintain partnership with Director of Food and Beverage, Executive Chef and Banquet Manager

11.Review banquet check daily recaps and summary reports.

12.Submit required reports to General Manager, Director of Sales, Chief Operating Officer and/or Owner on a weekly, monthly, annual basis as requested.

13.Review all tentative and definite bookings to ensure they are maximizing revenues, work efficiently for the resort operations’ teams, and provide an environment for optimal guest service.

14.Any other duties as assigned

Job Skills:

1.Knowledge of Catering Sales, BEOs, Convention Resumes, Event Planning and Budgeting

2.Exercise good communication, presentation, organization, time management and listening skills

3.Use analytical skills to measure trends, business potential for hotel

Job Qualifications: Describe the minimum qualifications needed to complete the job responsibilities.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Catering/Sales/Marketing, or a related field

Minimum 3 years Catering, Banquet or Meeting planner experience, or the equivalent industry experience; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Yes, formulates and implements marketing plans and evaluates trends to modify strategies that will enhance revenues effectively. May collaborate with Dir of Sales or property leaders

Yes, modifies strategies that will enhance revenues.

Does this position have authority to waive or deviate from established policies and procedures without prior approval?

Yes, may deviate from established procedures to modify strategies that will enhance revenues effectively.

Is this position involved in planning long or short-term business objectives?

Yes, assists in the production of annual hotel business plan and ensures the quarterly and annual revenue goals are achieved for the hotel.

Does this position represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances?

Yes, leads, trains & mentors catering staff including hiring, coaching development, performing evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations.

Does this position have authority to make an independent choice, free from immediate direction or supervision or make decisions or recommendations that may occasionally be reviewed, revised or reversed?

Yes, makes an independent choice to develop marketing plans and evaluate trends to modify strategies that will enhance revenues.

Ability to speak and hear. Close and distance vision. Frequent sitting with some walking and standing. Frequently lifts/carries up to 10 lbs. Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

Continually works in normal office conditions and in close proximity to others.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
