Position Summary
The Community Living Support Aide provides direct support and assistance to clients receiving Supported Living services following the guidelines set forth in Individualized Instruction and Support Plans, which contributes to the well-being of citizens of Grant County with developmental disabilities and/or mental health needs. This position supports the Agency mission, vision, value statements, and the goals of the Agency.
Directions In Community Living is a certified supported living agency, that provides support to individuals with developmental disabilities, and chronic mental illness. This position could be required to work various hours and days of the week but normal hours will be a swing shift. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position. Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC"s, or other regulatory bodies.

Assists with daily living skills such as grooming, toileting, eating, laundry, shopping and household upkeep.
Assists with nutritional guidance including meal planning, food preparation, knowledge of special nutritional needs, and encourage healthy nutrition.
Assists with transfers, ambulation and positioning.
Supports Individualized Instruction and Support Plans
Supports clients with positive integration into their community.
Interacts positively with the client"s family, advocates, guardians, case managers, employers, friends, and others.
Promotes learning and growth with clients.
Supports positive recognition of clients by themselves and with others.
Actively participates in training and other meetings, whether in or out of office, as requested.
Education, Experience, and Licensing

Required

High School Diploma/GED;
Be at least 18 years of age;
Good written and spoken communication skills;
Basic personal computer operations skills including Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing;
Valid Washington State Driver"s License: Must have a safe reliable vehicle with proof of automobile insurance;
Background Check: Must have an acceptable background report, at time of hire and every three years afterward;
Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving report;
CPR/First Aid: Must acquire and maintain this certification in accordance to current WACs;
HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and Blood Borne Pathogens: Must complete education upon hire; and
Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Nursing Assistant Registration through Washington Department of Health.

Preferred

Previous experience and/or training working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental health illnesses.
Knowledge of County and Agency policies and procedures.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Physical Abilities:
Standing for long periods of time
Operation of office equipment, including, but not limited to phone, copy machine, fax machine, computer
Regularly kneeling and bending to assist clients
Maneuvering clients with or without the assistance of equipment
Operation of typical household appliances such as vacuum cleaner, washing and drying machine, etc
Typing on keyboard
On site job education of individuals will occur in the setting of their employment which will expose staff to additional conditions and hazards per the specific setting
Operation of a car

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in and around clients" homes, but can be performed in varying temperatures.
Work includes cleaning and maintaining the whole living environment of clients.
Work includes providing personal care and activities of daily living of clients.
Employee may be exposed to cleaning supply odors or vapors.
Employee may be exposed to office supply odors or vapors.
Work may be performed in other environments where the employee may be exposed to sub-sanitary environments, pets, and passive smoking.
Daily exposure to potential verbal and physical aggression with risk of personal safety issues.
Work duties may require employee to transport client in vehicles, which involves risks associated with driving including road traffic conditions and inclement weather.
