We are hiring a Casual/ Part-Time Community Health Worker to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in San Antonio, TX 78229. In this position, you will work on a project providing viral hepatitis B and C education, screening, vaccination, and treatment to individuals with experiences of or at risk for homelessness. The work will be conducted off-campus at housing sites in the San Antonio metro area.

Position Summary:
The individual in this position will work on a project providing viral hepatitis B and C education, screening, vaccination, and treatment to individuals with experiences of or at risk for homelessness. The work will be conducted off-campus at housing sites in the San Antonio metro area.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Attendance at viral hepatitis screening events
- Provide education on hepatitis B and C (training will be provided)
- Meet with individuals interested in testing, vaccination, or treatment
- Record all job activities in a data management system
- Support phlebotomy team in paperwork, laboratory tests ordering, and blood samples drop off
- Contact individuals to inform them of viral hepatitis status
- Contact individuals to discuss vaccination and treatment options
- Navigation of clients to clinical care
- Contact individuals for vaccination follow-up
- Attend weekly team meeting
- Other related duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) – Certified CHW
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Must have ability to perform complex and diverse administrative duties that involve application of procedures and demonstrate appropriate judgment within the CHW scope of work.
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience:
- One (1) year of relevant work experience in health, social worker or education. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive: This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
