The Communications Manager in collaboration with the Executive Director for Communication and Events, is responsible for executing a comprehensive communications strategy that will support a $500 million comprehensive campaign. The position will be charged with helping lead communications tactics (digital and print) to support fundraising initiatives for major and principal gifts, the grateful patient program, planned and deferred giving, capital, and endowment campaigns and events.

  • Develop compelling organic content (written, web, digital) to ensure an integrated communications approach
  • Identify earned and social media opportunities and speaking engagements that position JMCF as a thought leader in the industry.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director for Communication and Eventsto ensure messaging is on point and is consistent with the Foundation's branding and goals.
  • Working collaboratively with the Foundation team and medical center senior leadership to discover new opportunities for compelling communications.
  • Works closely with the development and donor relations teams to gather input and feedback to ensure communications are on point.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of digital trends and competitors in the region.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in communications, writing and extensive social media.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess tactical, creative, and strategic insight, with a track record of success across a broad spectrum of today's communication channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a professional manner with fundraisers, donors, agencies, medical center and Foundation staff, and with outside vendors and service providers.
  • The ideal candidate for this position also demonstrates excellent writing, editing, and social media skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful, proactive strategic communications programs that employ creativity and use a variety of communications channels.
  • Strong executive presence, exceptional listening skills, and the ability to anticipate needs and prepare accordingly.
  • Resourceful in gathering information from across the organization.
  • Extremely organized with significant attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a very dynamic environment.
  • Experience leading PR and creative agencies. Ability to work closely with trusted outside agency partners to ensure flawless execution.
  • Experience with integration of paid, owned, and earned media strategies as well as experience with traditional and new media, including social media.
  • Ability to assess data to help monitor and track results to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Ability to work in a constantly changing corporate environment, independently as well as on a team, and interact with all levels of management in a professional and positive manner.
  • Intermediate knowledge of web-based CMS systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience required in Sprout Social or like social platform.
  • Experience working with Blackbaud RE NXT or other Blackbaud products is desirable.
  • Experience at non-profit community-based hospital or health care facility is desirable.
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, tact, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality inside and outside of the Foundation.
