Description:
DUTIES: Receive emergency service calls from the public requesting police or other emergency services; determine nature, location and priority of emergency; enter appropriate information in computer and forward call to dispatcher. Answer non-emergency calls for assistance and refer to appropriate department or agency; answer calls for maintenance service emergencies during evenings, weekends and holidays. Use telecommunications system to coordinate emergency calls and relay information and assistance requests involving other law enforcement agencies. Enter, update and retrieve information from NCIC relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other information. Receive, process, and transmit information by teletype to Federal, State and local government agencies. Receive respond to and document requests for warrants and Division of Motor Vehicles print-pouts; verify, type and file warrants; document vehicle impound information.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or the equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Some experience in dealing with and communicating with the public is required.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.

This classification is equivalent to a Telecommunicator working in a Police 911 call center. This is shift work. High School Diploma or Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Some experience in dealing with and communicating with the public is required.
