About Houston


ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team


  • This position will be in the Central Project Management department of the ExxonMobil Global Projects Company
  • Position: Commissioning and Start-up Advisor
  • Location: Spring, TX

What you will do


  • Be a primary contact for multiple world-scale projects to ensure that the project teams are properly supported with Systems Completion resources, processes, and tools throughout early development planning to project implementation
  • Provide Systems Completion planning expertise and support to project teams prior to full funding


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide guidance and leadership on all matters relating to mechanical completion, commissioning, and turn-over/systems acceptance
  • Instruct new project teams on the Systems Completion process
  • Serve as part time Systems Completions Advisor on projects prior to filling these positions on a full time basis
  • Assist projects in planning and development of Systems Completion Plans
  • Ensure that commissioning and start-up issues are identified and resolved appropriately
  • Assist projects in identification of commissioning resource needs at key project phases and in screening and obtaining the required resources
  • Develop required work orders and agreements to place Systems Completion personnel on projects
  • Maintain contact with project Systems Completion personnel while assigned to projects
  • Develop, review and comment on key Systems Completion related project deliverables
  • Lead, participate, provide commissioning input, review, and guidance to project reviews
  • Ensure that a computerized Systems Completion Database (SCDB) is used for tracking, certification, and quality purposes
  • Assist in monitoring and guiding EPC contractor's commissioning organizations during planning and execution phases
  • Complete special studies, projects and assignments as needed


About you


Skills and Qualification


  • College / University engineering degree
  • 5 to 15 years of project completion and commissioning / start up experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel to overseas locations, including West Africa, Middle East, and China
  • Geographic flexibility to relocate domestically or internationally to future project locations
  • Ability to develop successful working relationships, become a team player, and work effectively in a multi-national workforce


Preferred Qualification/ Experience


  • Strong understanding of project management, engineering, construction, commissioning and completion practices
  • Previous successful leadership role during mechanical completion, commissioning, operations planning, and/or start-up
  • Broad general engineering knowledge of oil and gas facilities
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • Commissioning standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
    • Onshore and Offshore facilities commissioning and operations
    • Rigorously structured, systematic approaches to world-scale project commissioning and operations management planning
