E1-E4 FIELD ELECTRICIAN

Department: Commercial Construction Exempt: No

Reports To: Project Leads Pay Range: $23/27hr

Position Type: Full-Time Hours: 40+ hrs/week Mandatory

JOB SUMMARY

The E1-E4 Field Electricians are responsible for performing electrical wiring duties in a Jobsite setting with relatively little supervision. This position will read blueprints, install switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, and other electrical gear: and perform other electrical duties related to general construction operations.

Foreman.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.

Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical components, equipment, or systems, to ensure proper functioning. May require working from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs.

Perform installation on low voltage systems, electronic fire alarm systems, pull stations, strobes, horns, detectors, exit signs, and other related building system products.

Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools.

Maintain tools and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.

Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment, using hand tools.

Direct work of employees with less experience and assist these individuals as needed.

Reading and interpreting blueprints, circuit diagrams, and other technical documents.

Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using measuring instruments and hand tools.

Assemble temporary equipment or structures.

Drill holes and pull or push wiring through openings, using hand and power tools.

Place conduit, pipes, or tubing inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed. areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduits or ducts to complete circuits between boxes.

Construct or fabricate parts, using hand tools, according to specifications.

Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduits or moving or lifting heavy objects.

Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and by reporting violations of policies, procedures, and guidelines to the immediate supervisor.

Receive and deliver material to employees.

Consistently update job-related knowledge and skills.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum (4) years of electrical construction experience.

Working knowledge of National Electrical Codes.

Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, order of operations).

Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods).

Thorough knowledge of electrical construction material; including gear, fixtures, and commodity items.

LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

Must be First Aid and CPR/AED certified or become certified during employment.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND LICENSES (May increase pay range)

Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida CDL class “B” motor vehicles operator's license or higher with Air Brake and an acceptable driving record is preferred.

Accredited apprenticeship training.

Journeyman License.

OSHA 10.

Spanish speaking.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in the English language at a 12th-grade level.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the Company’s management team, and the general public.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge and experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair, of all sizes of electrical equipment, including but not limited to, controls, telemetry, recorders, transformers, switches, and related equipment.

Knowledge of standard practices, tools, terminology, and safety standards of the electrical and mechanical trades.

Possess the physical ability and strength to handle heavy electrical materials and climb stairs.

Ability to sketch and or draw: electrical installations and schematics/wiring diagrams.

Ability to compose a list of materials required to complete a job or project.

Ability to perform work in a consistently safe manner.

The capability of standard eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

Ability to work independently in a diligent manner and professionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADA

This job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, equipment operation, and driving. The employee will work outside in various weather conditions. Working in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment may be required as well as working from heights, in dusty conditions, with hands, feet, and/or legs in wastewater, and may handle chemicals.

Environment: Inside Work/Outside Work in Various Conditions

Hearing: Normal to Very High Noise Levels for Work Environment
